Not that I like it, but with bourbon operations, I believe they're kind of stuck. Their branding is tied to the term "bourbon". They could hypothetically move the distilling of other spirts with no effect. But they'd lose their "bourbon" designation if they moved those out of state.

Bottling operations employ lots of people and corporate offices employ a great many well-educated, high-paying jobs. I don't think Kentucky is in danger of losing their distilleries, but of losing what remains of the bottling operations and corporate headquarters... that's where we need to be concerned.

Jefferson County is not the end all that they are betrayed to be sometime. The illustrious governor just canceled a road that was suppose to be built in my community. The road is badly needed it serves at least a thousand people daily the mountain has suffered mud slides several times and has sheets of tin holding the dirt in place to keep the road there. It takes you roughly 20 minutes to 10 miles on this road. It is a road used by countless semi trucks daily that can't keep the truck on their side of the road, one of which hit my wife last spring and almost killed her. Don't think you aren't the only place not getting your fair share. I haven't heard of many major road projects in Louisville or Lexington being put off.

Understood, and I know it well. I'm just pointing out that the actual distilling of bourbon will remain in Kentucky regardless, unless the companies are willing to give up the one thing that defines their spirit.

I have no idea how much they get back, but the world doesn't revolve around Lexington and Louisville. People are ashamed of eastern Kentucky talking about how it brings down Kentucky and casts a bad light on the state as a whole. Well, invest some money in it and it won't be that way. Last time I went to Louisville too, they had plenty of bridges especially crossing the Ohio River. Also, I've seen hundred's of those bumper sticks "I'm not from Kentucky, I'm from Louisville!" when I visit the city. I have no real problem with Louisville but most of the time us mountain folk feel forgotten in most everything that comes out of Frankfort.
