  1. What about your word and honor? What about the command in scripture to pay your just and honorable debts.
  2. I am concerned with the way the text reads. When it says he that sinneth is of the devil; I believe it. I wouldn't dismiss what Jesus did for her too lightly. She was about to be stoned to death by an angry mob. He diffused the situation, saved her life and delivered her from Sin. You know...I'd call that a miracle. Read John 5: (8-14)
  3. I can't be concerned with Robertson's grammatical riddles. It's like this: if you play; you are a player. If you drink; you are a drinker. If you sin; you are a sinner. And if you are a sinner; then, what have you been saved from? Certainly not sin. What did Jesus command many of those he worked miracles for? Was it go and sin every day? No, he said, "Thy sins be forgiven thee. Go and sin no more." I'll look up the verse in question.
  4. I know that, but since the current trend seems to be to tax and spend, couldn't we tax the tax; so, the government would have more money. More is better????
  5. Wonder if they've thought of taxing lottery tickets and bingo halls? Let's all call our reps/sen and recommend it.
  6. Could we start a fundamentalist movement and actually organize the Christian Conservative Party? I'll volunteer to run for President on the ticket.
  7. We all have sinned, if we hadn't Jesus would not have had to die. But what part of ALL in the verses above do you not understand? Read I John 3:6 "Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him." Jesus said he wouldn't have us tempted above that which we were able to bear, but with EVERY temptation he'd make the way for our escape. Good enough for me.
  8. He that committeth sin is of the Devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. Hatz-I John 3:8-9.
  9. Of course, on His Father's side, there isn't a lot of diversity.
  10. Not real good with chapter and verse, Htz. I don't study the Bible that way, but I can assure you it's in there. I do know there are some good Bible Concordances on-line, if you can't put your hands on your hardback copy.
  11. FDR, Clinton, Kennedy When you look at the long-term effects of a presidency, how many of the policies that any of them enacted were great successes? Further, name a great policy accomplishment of any of them. FDR helped move us toward socialism. Clinton signed NAFTA effectively ending America's dominance as an industrial power. Kennedy couldn't even handle Cuba.
  12. Believe this or not....there is actually a teacher in our high school (I won't say where) who teaches children that Lincoln was a homosexual and that he was a slaveowner. Now, I know he was forced into being an abolitionist, but a slaveowning homosexual... Can anyone confirm this lunacy???
  13. The Bible says,"There was nothing comely about him that men should behold his appearance." Leads me to believe he would have fit in as an average "looking" Galilean of the time. So, then what does that look like? He does have some "black" ancestry, or at least Solomon would lead us to believe he does.
  14. A couple of scriptures to think about: "All that my Father hath given me, I've lost none; saving for the Son of Perdition and that so the scriptures might be fulfilled." "Make your peace calling and election sure. If you do these things, you shall never fall." "We are not like the dog that returns to the vomit or the sow that wallows in the mire." Also, the Bible says if you were once enlightened and tasted of the heavenly gift...if it were possible to fall..it would be impossible to be renewed. This would crucify Jesus afresh and bring Him to an open shame. So, in my opinion, people who do those things you mention, were probably well-intended within their own capabilities; yet, they never fully "held out faithful to the end (of sin)" and were never saved.
  15. The proof comes from John refusing to baptize those at the River Jordan, who had not brought forth fruits of repentance. Proof is required from your standpoint to ever demonstrate this being done, even once, in the Bible.
  16. Did you guys ever think that this kind of thing might be good for Eastern Kentucky? I mean realistically whether we like it or not, at least some people do live like this in KY. Maybe some day guilt will grip this nation, kinda like the Civil Rights Movement. And then the rest of the country will see the injustices of Roosevelt's socialist programs. The painful grip that socialist dependency has on our people needs to be on display. Our coal and timber is gone. Where are our roads, airports, phase I electric, public waste management, and idustrial parks? What are E Kentuckians to do to break the cycle of socialist dependency? I know many outside the area would say, simply leave. But it's not easy to leave and go out into a world absent of your family; where you know your culture will never be valued.
  17. How many "public" roads in Frankfort, Louisville, Lexington, or N. KY are gravel roads?? Didn'y you watch Diane Sawyer's program?
  18. Cars are very heavily taxed in this state. What do you get to do for your birthday every year???? Sell a car, ten times in one year, and taxes are paid every time. Let's cut car taxes and put a new tax on plastic surgery procedures, viagara, and jewelry!
  19. I like this part. Let's start over at Frankfort. Then, Washington. Oh nevermind; we just got change we can believe in there. Didn't we??
  20. I don't believe in gambling, but I love the concept of another "tax" I wouldn't have to pay. I just hate to see kids be victimized, because the adults in their life aren't responsible enough to manage their money. I have no problem with taxing guns and ammo. They are already heavily taxed, IMO. I can choose to pay or not to pay for guns and ammo. Next thing I want to see taxed is people using the term, "holier than thou". Exactly what does that mean? If a person isn't a liberal and has conservative values, than they are holier than thou? Alcohol and tobacco are far more deadly than many illicit drugs. If taxing them more heavily will help curb use (especially with our young people) and raise revenue for our broke state budget- what's the down side of that?
  21. You can't sell it, if it isn't grown. Tobacco farmers have already been punished enough with the elimination of the government price support system. I'm glad I live in a dry county. I wish prohibition had worked, but since it didn't (due to corruption and a weak president who gave up too soon) let's punish the alcohol industry all we can for all the ills it causes in society: addiction, broken lives, broken homes, death on the highways........
  22. Sure it's the same. The purpose of taxation is supposed to be to use the money for the "common good". If you are going to designate that money derived from one type of taxation only be used for certain citizens; then, why not prioritize all tax dollars, according to where they came from, who produced the revenue, etc. It sounds like you espouse the opinion of many of our forefathers who believed only the wealthy land owners and merchants should benefit from government.
  23. I guess it's because they have to pick on stuff that enough people actually buy to make it worthwhile..... Jerry Clower recommended a tax on joggers. His theory: since they were probably going to live longer they should pay more.
  24. I think this arguement is fair enough. And if no tobacco is grown in a county, they get no tobacco tax money. Cool!!!
