Selig is an idiot. He doesn't deserve his 18 million dollars a year. Baseball needs to move on from steroids and stop going back to it. Simple as that

No place in this great game, for an asterisk or removal of records. If you remove Bonds HR totals, than you need to remove the following:

 

1) All the K's for Pitchers who got him out. Can't leave his out and say they didn't count, unless doing the same for Pitchers.

 

2) Wins the Giants achieved, in games where Bonds hit a HR. Could be argued, his HR made a difference in the game.

 

3) Remove all RBI's of any player who drove Bonds in, after he got on base. Shouldn't count for another player, if Bonds was on and scored.

 

I could go on but can't remove his HR accomplishments, without disallowing other aspects of the game which are associated.

I'm with you 100%. This is the most ridiculous thing that has ever been said in baseball. Go ahead and remove all the strikeouts from the batters that Clemens struck out. Change all the ERA's of pitchers that gave up runs to Bonds, Canseco, Palmeiro, McGwire, etc. This idea by the "commish" is a joke.

Instead of reinstating Aaron, I would wonder why he was never celebrated and honored like he should have been after his career. Instead of removing Bonds HR totals, remove the protection the MLB Union has caused by allowing these players to continually disgrace this great game.

There is just no way to undo what has been done. Baseball needs to become proactive and fix the problems rather than focusing on things they can't change. If you take away Bonds home run record, I want to see all of AROD's home runs wiped out and also every stat associated with everyone that cheated wiped out (including all the stats accumulated from opposing players). Let's just rewrite all of the stats and start over.:popcorn:

I don't think it's practical, nor do I think it will actually happen, but I am for it nonetheless. Bonds is being rewarded for cheating and then lying about his cheating. It really does put Aaron's greatness in perspective.

 

I think the reason people support it , and I get it, is its Bonds.

I have to question that he releases these thoughts, without already backing them up. Major mistake if he doesnt! (after making these statements)

 

For the record, I am not opposed to this as long the punishment is the same for every single player. From Bonds, to McGwire, to Andy Pettite.

Selig and the owners allowed this stuff to happen. They knew it was going on but didn't want to bite the bullet and take the PR hit when it came out that some of the game's biggest stars were juiced.

 

This is why I believe he has stepped into the twilight zone with his statements!

 

Now he wants to retroactively do something about it, because he thinks it's to his PR advantage.
