The referee in question was way out of line creating the "chair moving" controversy. Newport Central Catholic was well on their way to victory when the incident occurred. Why wouldn't he bring the statistician issue up at halftime or during a timeout?? Why wait until Notre Dame is at the freethrow line?? Made no sense!!! Congrats to the Breds on the victory.

Our Statistician is great young lady who wouldn't even speak to the refs. She simply records stats in a handheld device which appears to be the basis of the controversy.

Sounds like Newport CC was on a roll to beat a very good Notre Dame team by that margin.

 

As the one who will be keeping stats tomorrow (most likely on a Pocket PC while sitting near the scorer's table or bench) for CAL's game vs. St. Henry, I'd like to know the true cause of this one to avoid getting into trouble with any 9th region official. Of course, I know to keep my mouth quiet unless they ask me a question. Maybe I'll offer to keep the traditional record book instead...it's certainly easier.

In fact, there is an exception of electronic devices if used by a statistician. The referee was flat out wrong and he had a personal agenda.

We improvised, Fatheads is probably a brand. A local company printed them for us. Here is the other end of the gym in the JV game. 5 seniors this year.

Unfortunately, I totally agree. This particular ref seemed much more noticeable on the court than the other two. Hopefully, the game wasn't about him.

Fortunately, it was a non-issue for the CAL at St. Henry game. I used a Pocket PC (basically a PDA) to keep stats and sat on the bench with the assistant coaches. This proved to be no problem for the 9th region officials who I thought had a good game, even if the number of fouls was in St. Henry's favor as they rightly called it closer in the 2nd half.
