Someone needs to merge the two threads.

WOW!!! Never would have thunk this.

I'm not sure. I've been out with a bad ear problem, but from what I was told, South Laurel didn't come to play and Clinton County did. I was told St. John, not Johns, had to sit out almost all of the second and third quarters due to foul trouble. Now that's what I was told. Also was told that Zack Smith sit out the second quarter because of foul trouble.

That would make a huge difference for the Cards. Playing without Smith and St. John would really hurt them on the glass and in the scoring column as well.

Life on the road can be interesting. Good win for Clinton nonetheless. Coach Messer is an Ol' Clay County boy from back in the day.

From the boxscore the two teams tied the second and third quarter, Clinton won the game in the first and fourth.

I was told by some friends from Clinton that South Laurel looked down from previous years. Described them as not near as good as Hazard.

Big win for Coach Todd Messer and the Bulldogs.

Is this the same coach that was at Fleming County not too long ago?

Yep.

Also, I would say that South is down from year's past with the players they've graduated the past three years.:eyeonyou:

I that so?

Maybe South would have won the game if St. John would have played in the second and third quarters? Maybe that was when t:thumb::ohbrother:he game was decided for South.

Good point

How big of an upset is this? I really know nothing about Clinton Co and South Laurel has been in and out of the top 20 in several polls this year.

There are lots of "ifs" in games. Bottom line is Clinton beat them. Either South Laurel is/was not on their game or Clinton is a pretty good team. My belief is that Clinton is a pretty good team and Messer is a pretty good coach. My friends in Clinton had told me about this game a few days before and pretty much laid out the gameplan. I kinda laughed it off and after the game last night, they called to remind me of what they had told me and told me the score. Of course I gave them congrats and Clinton's coaches staff earned some respect from me. Maybe that what we should all take from this, Clinton did not take South lightly, and Clinton is a pretty good team and not make excuses for the home team.
