Actually your wrong. I know both families, Hatton is 13 and should be in the eighth grade and McClendon is 15 and should be a freshman. McClendon was held back as well as Hatton. I would have to disagree on McClendon being able to handle Hatton one on one. I have watched both boys play ball for years. Hatton has been playing up in AAU basketball since he was in the first grade with the Tarheels. I have spoken with his mom and dad on several occasions about his AAU ball playing. He has always played up in AAU basketball. He actually played two years up for a few years b/c he use to play with Trammel. I think he also played down on his own grade as well at the same time. I can't really comment on Herndon I haven't seen him play enough. I can only go off what I have seen McClendon and Hatton do. How much Tarheel basketball have you watched these two boys play in? I know you said that McClendon was the leading scorer for JV Holmes squad, do you know what his point avg is? I heard that Hatton was the leading scorer in the region for JV? That a rumor so not sure if there is truth to that or not. Another parent told me he was averaging seventeen points a game? Does anyone know if any of this is true?

 

I realize you're a big Hatton fan but honestly anyone who has watched Mcclendon all year play at the JV level will tell you that he is the better of the two. It's not by much but he is bigger, stronger, more athletic, and he definetly has a much better shot than Hatton as well. Mcclendon is averaging right around 16 ppg playing JV. I'd give Hatton the edge in ball handling. I haven't seen Mcclendon play at the AAU level much but I watched him dominate at Summitt View for two years playing along side Jared Swanson, who will also be another strong player in the years to come.

 

Both are very good players but IMO Mcclendon is the better of the two. I know that's not going to change your opinion so I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree on the matter but honestly it's much more impressive Mcclendon playing up at Holmes than Hatton playing up at Dixie..why do you think Hatton left the Covington schooling system? Because he knew he wouldn't see much time at Holmes until atleast his freshman or soph year.

 

I wouldn't use the AAU scene from the SUMMER to judge who's better either. Mcclendon is going against some of the top players in the state every day in practice which is helping him improve quickly.

Congratulations to the Bulldogs for yet another victory. We'll see how they do coming up against Highlands.

I have seen the Tarheels play many times, and I, personally, believe McClendon could definately take Hatton one-on-one. McClendon from what I remember has a height advantage and a speed advantage. Hatton can definately shoot better from outside, but how much does that matter one-on-one.

Let me tell you something you go out and ask anybody that have seen the both of them play and I promise that they say Hatton is the better player hands down. If you ask the man that has coached the both of them for a long time he would tell you who is the better player by far and it is absolutly insane to say Mclendon would beat Hatton one on one. They have played each other several times and the edge going to Hatton. I am going to leave it at this they are both good players and they are friends and talk to each other all the time so lets not hurt that friendship. When they are seniors we can say who the better player is and God willing that will be several years from now.

Hatton isn't disliked by anyone. Trust me, I like the kid alot and know he's a player, but honestly Mcclendon is the better of the two and got the best of Hatton in the JV game, dropping 16 on him while Hatton only had 12 with Holmes #4 option guarding him.

 

Mcclendon, I can guarantee will be the better player of the two for the simple fact of the competition he sees and goes against day in and day out in practice.

I don't think you know Mcclendon very well he is 14 and will turn 15 at the start of his freshmen year.

Can't go to the hole ,you don't basketball because if a player can only shoot then you don't leave him.The reason he gets open shots is because they play off of him so he doesn't beat them to the basket. Just because you are friends with parents shouldn't stop you from telling the truth and you are not by saying Hatton is better.
