Divorce and Remarriage?

Featured Replies

Again, if, and that's a big if.....a man and a woman are christians and truely working for the lord, then the temptaions that lead to divorce do not happen, or are handled together by the couple. If the couple are not christians then why would they care if divorce and remarriage are issues. The problem I see is the relationsship of a christian and a non christian. But that my friends is something I feel that a christian must take into account when choosing a partner in order to make sure they are able to stay away from these situations.

How does the bolded compare to what Jesus did on the cross for you?

We are not Jesus, and could never do what he's done for us. Does he want us to be miserable and alone the rest of our lives. Maybe not, but he probably also wants us to listen to his word and make better decisions when picking a mate. This whole ordeal is more confusing than the pathagorean theorum, and Shaq.

All of those who have lost their lives in Muslim countries trying to spread the Gospel, have done something extremely similar to what Jesus did. Giving their life for God's purposes.

On your third sentence, 100% agreement from me. THe problem is not divorce but rather no Christian viewpoint too many times in selecting your spouse.

SHOPS, nice comment welcome. And I also agree with the last three posts. If someone had taken me aside and showed me some bible issues who knows?

My first wife went to church with me while we dated, but after a few weeks into the marriage she never wanted to go back.

I've never understood why, if one was divorced, one would even want to remarry.

ROCKMOM, start a new thread and we will have some fun. Maybe Momma will comment and agree with you. :isurrender:

 Yeah, but he probably wouldn't have gone to buy the TV, he'd just have made fun of me when I bought the wrong thing. I figure a snafoo here and there is worth not having that. :D

No, us males would have gone television shopping and came back with a 164" big screen home theater with surround sound with all sorts of woofers and stuff.

I need a Tim Allen grunt right here.:D

....that you can't afford, get ticked off trying to set up, only to discover that if you'd read the instructions, it would have only taken a half an hour, instead of 3. :D

That's about right.:thumb:

Only to find you curled up in front of it a week later crying when Tom Hanks runs into Meg Ryan at the top of the Empire State Building.

Shops, welcome.

Can you give me the definition of a "Christian" according to the Bible?

I'm not looking for generalities. I'm looking for verse.

I would a good Scripture would be the description of David.

A man after God's heart.

As I've said before I'm far from an expert on Scripture. Can you give me the verse as it is in the Bible?

I ask because its my understanding that the word "Christian" is only in the Bible 3 times. I think many of us have our own views of what being a "Christian" entails and I'm not 100% sure there is a strong definition in the Bible.

So when Shops says something about "if you're a Christian..." that seems to be open to interpretation.
