Adam Prince came off the bench leading Grant with 16 points. Balanced scoring for the Braves with Thompson had 14, Davis with 10, Kinmon with 7 and 14 rebounds. Livingood did an excellent job at point while Kinman and Loomis came off the bench giving the Braves a spark!

I think both teams played well tonight, especially on the fast breaks. However, repetitive as it is..Williamstown once again let it go in the third quarter. They made a great attempt at a comeback in the fourth and was only 4 down with a minute fourty three left to go. Fouls in the last minute made the score difference. As always, Livingood made smart decisions and Grant played as a team. As far as a spark..I think Eric White for the Demons played with heart and soul tonight, a usually unrecognized player gets my MVP for the evening. Great rebounding on his part.

Is this still an actual rivalry. The last time that Grant lost to WTown was Jan 22, 2005. They are two different programs going in two different directions. Are we hanging on to the past and grasping a ruvalry that does not really exist.

I know most of the Seniors on both teams have at one time went to school with one another or played on summer ball teams together and are friendly off the court. That being said, you always want to beat your "cross town rival". This was a year W-town could have done it, they have the talent, but couldn't pull it out. Reality is a 1-A school doesn't have a big chance against a 4-A maybe 5-A school, but it's two fun nights of the season!

I agree the Demons have lost way to many games in that 3rd quarter, and rebounding is a weakness they definately need to work on. The rebounding situation needs to turn around and quick districts are no that far off. The good news is they have the players that have size, and they have players that have the speed to get to the ball. Its just a matter of getting them to think rebound before thinking transition everytime.

The rival is there from what I can tell. They play to high levels from each team in this game. Congrats to W-town for showing a lot of heart down the stretch. The Braves turned up the heat in the 3rd quarter and the performnce of Prince off the bench was huge. He hit some big threes, and played good defense. I would love to see him and Davis in the game at the same time, Prince's ability to hit the three and post up could cause some problems for teams that want to double down on Davis. I thought that Caleb kinmon played big on hte boards, it seemed like he got every rebound. Congrats to the Braves on the win but you have a big one on Tuesday. Let's get on a role to finish out the season, remember you have to play at W-town in district and you must be ready to take it to them for a third time.

Big win for the Braves in what is really a no-win situation. If you DO win...then you're supposed to, you're the bigger school. If you DON'T win...you're still the bigger school, and it doesn't matter what level of talent Wtown may have!

 

I know Coach Kinmon must have been worried about this one after the long layoff due to the snow. Kudos to the Braves for stepping it up.

 

And who knows...there may be a third matchup between these two schools in about another month! If Grant gets the #1 seed...then the Demons will get a chance at redemption...but, most importantly...on Williamstown's home court. Got a chance for a great district tournament!

This is definitely a rivarly. Both teams are in the same district but even more in the same county...This is always a huge game if you couldn't tell by how big the crowd was! :dancingpa

If you look at how WTown plays you see that their offense is very guard oriented. They shoot a lot of threes and jumpers. From what I've seen, their shooting ability is great in the first half but they have a difficult time maintaining the high FG% in the second half. In order for them to win, they need to D up and build a good lead at half time, so they can grind it out and hang on for the victory. OR.. they need to use Vice more often. He posts up and fades away from the basket. Vice is really not a huge offensive threat. Therefore when the 3's don't fall, the players attempt to drive to the rim and force off balanced shots. Last night I thought that Anglin played great, expect for about a three possession period in the fourth where he forced to bad shots and fouled twice.

I agree Anglin did play a great game, and I think Vice does a very good job inside. I think Mason gets overlooked he is usually he is one of their best rebounders and an absolute work horse, But I think that Williamstown tries to compensate with to many 3 pt attempts. Until the rebounding improves they need to work on getting the ball inside making better use of their inside players and taking good high percentage shots and drawing fouls.
