Okay, the numbers are what the numbers are, he's over 3,000. Congratulations on a great accomplishment and a nice write up.

 

One suggestion, though. The numbers I looked at came from the KHSAA Sweet Sixteen website, which come from the school in a stat sheet provided after the regional tournament. I didn't get numbers from any unreliable internet site or from the Courier Journal. I relied upon numbers recorded at the KHSAA website that were supplied by Elliott County. For at least the past two seasons, someone from Elliott County has underreported his point totals to Sweet Sixteen officials. Why the school would have two sets of numbers, one set that was reported to the Sweet Sixteen and one set that was reported to the Independent, is anybody's guess. Also, as Dale has pointed out several times, the Elliott County statisticians were a couple of hundred points late in acknowledging #2,000. My suggestion is to check to see that the correct numbers are reported when Elliott County punches its ticket to Rupp. At some point, when his career is over and he ranks way up there on the list of career scorers, the KHSAA review committee would undoubtedly inquire as to why there were two sets of numbers.

 

One more thing - and I am sincere about this - I hope to see EC at least get to Saturday morning - and if the Ninth Region representative is out, I'll be cheering for EC to get red hot from behind the arc and surprise people. I love the idea of a small school team that plays up and down the floor. If Holmes and EC are both lucky enough to get to Saturday morning, I'll see you there. I'll be the guy with the calculator.

 

It took a couple days and some research, but here is what I found! Coach Mays keeps keeps stat's and points in a book for each season! They are kept on top of his cabinet or desk!He also has a few games each year(5/3, Ky bank shootout, Ky West V shootout etc) where his people dont keep the stats and points. They are given to him on a sheet which he keep in a folder in file drawer!

 

The Khsaa sheet Henry Steele is freaking out about is mainly for media purposes and is not required by Khsaa unless you are entering the state tourney!!

 

When Coach Mays had his high school helper to fill out the sheet he told him our record, how many games we played and said get the book and fill in the stats and points!That is just what he did he entered the stats and points from the book unaware of the ones in folder in file drawer! The same person did it both years! The assistant Coach didnt double check it because he said it was mainly for the media and he just turned it in also unaware of the missing games!!

 

I made the statement in one of my post previous to this last stab in Jonathan's back that I looked at the Khsaa sheets also and all the games werent included! Pretty sure I posted that in the closed thread and this one!

 

The games entered were right for each year...24-6 Soph and 26-3 Jr because Coach told him what our record was to get him started, but all the points arent on that sheet because the ones in file drawer weren't included!

 

When the Coaches added up his total points from both sources.....that was the numbers turned in to the independant and the correct ones!! This was confirmed by the assistant Coach yesterday!!!!!!!!!!

I know we've discussed this before, but my mind ain't what it used to be so here goes again . . . what's the school record and who currently holds that title?

It's really a shame that Dale has to explain anything to anyone! This kid is an amazing player and scorer and for anyone to even question his stats is absurd. Keep up the good work Ferg and good luck in the post season. You have a lot of fans outside of Sandy Hook that will be rooting you guys on.
