Of course you haven't heard any complaining. Would you expect too? I'm a Corbin fan, but beyond that, I'm a fan of the game of basketball and if you can honestly say that if SL was riding a winning streak vs having the difficult games that they did over the weekend and the game still would have been postponed due to "weather" then you are seeing something that I don't. Actions speak louder than words.

Wow, ... everyone in Corbin is convinced that South Laurel is afraid to play them? Just amazing. If so, why would they have scheduled the possibility of playing them 3 times this year. South is playing a tough schedule, I don't hear them whining, ... and this game will be played. I know that Corbin and South don't like each other, but is the past few years of falling short at the feet of the Cardinals eating at them this much? I think Corbin wins as they have the first two times they met this season, but this implication that South is 'afraid' of them is just silly.

I believe you're searching a bit to be honest. Should the game have been played? Yes. But it wasn't and there isn't anything to do about it but wait until Thursday. I believe if it were Tiddly Wink High School cancelling the game, you wouldn't be so mad. I believe some of your being upset about the game not being played Tuesday might be forgotten after Corbin wins by double-digits Thursday. I want you to know, I do respect what you're saying and I enjoy talking with you, And like I said before, yeah the game should have been played. But it is going to be played now, so enjoy the game tomorrow. I expect Corbin to come out firing on all cylinders.

In my eyes SL is 13th region champs until someone knocks them off. Sure, Corbin has been dominating them this year but what if they meet in the regional title game this year? Will Corbin be thinking of the dominance of regular season or the downfall of their past post season experience against south? South will be ready, AND YOU CAN QUOTE ME ON THAT!!!!

I don't think for a second that SL is afraid to play Corbin. They have owned the Hounds for the better part of this century. That's exactly why it was so frustrating when the game was not played as scheduled.

 

Furthermore, I think we can all agree that if the shoe was on the other foot the SL faithful would feel the same way. Can you imagine the outpouring if Corbin had cancelled a game that could have been played during the reign of the "Big 3."

 

Finally, please know that I'm not a fanatical fan of anything except the game of basketball. I love my team, but I love the sport more. All in all, isn't this why there is a place like BGP? I love the opportunity to share an opinion and get a reaction. Its great to read comments from experts and knuckleheads all in the same place. I'm having a blast and I hope you are too. And while I realize we can't reveal our identities I hope that most of you know I will be quick to congratulate a winner - no matter who it is.

 

p.s. Les, I may be searching a little but as you well know one should never let the facts get in the way of a great story. lol

I know a lot of us Corbin fans were really hoping that we would have met up in the state tourney. Not saying they were scared to play but it was the only year I ever remember the two not playing and never figured it out.

 

Tomorrow night is the night and the games going to be played. I have a bad feeling about this one but don't necessarily think it will be a bad thing if Corbin wins. I would however like to have a 5 game win streak over South going into next season.

I know South has owned the 13th since they came into it, however, this is Corbin's year. They are loaded and while it could happen, I don't see anybody keeping them from playing at Rupp Arena. If they keep playing team ball, they have a great shot at a very nice postseason run, possibly playing on Saturday.

Very good point. The big "IF" is playing team ball. I don't foresee this team falling of the wagon, but if they do there are a couple of teams that have individuals as good or better than anyone Corbin has. Most notably, St. John (SL) and Miller (KC). I hope they take advantage of it. I don't want to sound like a bitter old man, but when I was in high school I felt like 3 of my 4 years we had solid chances of winning the region and didn't capitalize. It still kinda bugs me that we never played in Rupp. It doesn't keep me up at night, but you only get a handful of opportunities to do truly great things.

There is no pressure on Corbin to win this game but alot of pressure on SL and that is why Corbin will win. The pressure will be to turn around and play (and win) a renewed NL team the very next night that will feel like it has a very good chance to steal a "W" from Corbin.

I think the Hounds learned early what happened when they didn't play team ball (eg Knox Central game) and if they keep that lesson in their head, they will be a hard out for anyone.
