First time seeing him last night. He seemed to play stiff in IMO.Wasnt to impressed. Can he step out and hit the elbow jumper? Was it just me seeing this? Big game jitters or Youth maybe? Youre right could be a load by senior season.

Not saying that's the only reason, because he does it fairly regularly but you got to see it first hand last night.

Very physical game by both teams Pangallo handled the pressure well Connor's defense was spectaculer and hit 4 huge free throws in the final minute!

Connor's defense was great, but can anybody explain why in the last two minutes, he was taken out on defense and brought back in on offense. While he was out, the kid he was guarding scored a couple of times to keep the game close. Why not just leave him in on both offense and defense. He was getting the job done, I just didn't understand.

Shawn Meyer is bigger and longer than Connor so he plays defense, Connor is a better shooter so he plays offense.

NewCath and Danville should be a good first round game, but I'm not sure that either can defeat Shelby Valley. I'm looking forward to watching them play Danville, though.

Hey, doesn't NewCath have a little tradition of meeting Danville a lot in the football state finals? That could make for an exciting 1st round game on that fact alone. Cheering sections will come to the game already with a nice healthy grudge.

 

I don't want to get ahead of myself, but it's fun to think about the possibility of a Shelby Valley match up. Whether or not NewCath can advance any further than that, still they'll be facing some stiff competition however far they advance that can only be a major plus in growing them up super quick before they come back home face the likes of Brossart and Holmes. It might be ridiculous to think that they could possibly get by them this year, but it also seemed mighty ridiculous, all the many other recent victories over Holmes they've had in recent years too. Nothing against Holmes, but it always fun to see if at least one local team can take down the giant during the season and strangely the saga of NewCath being the one that has a way of doing it continues. Tall order. I know...but NewCath knows how to play 32 full minutes of ball and stick to the plan with a winner's attitude. Thing is, this year so do the Bulldogs. In the past, I think other than taking Holmes out of their game with their different style, they also knew to cash in on the Bulldog's every lapse. This year, the Bulldogs don't lapse. That's why it's fun to have them as a true possible state winner this year more than ever, but I still get off on seeing the giant fall at least once in the season to a local just for kicks. Hey, you know what they say about good losses and how they can vent some steam. So I think it would be just crazy if NewCath could do it again just to keep the wild story alive. If not, I still bet they give'm a game. NewCath always comes to play.

I believe it was 47 -40 NCC when the 1st switch was made and the Newport player actually drove down and made plays happen and when Connor was on defense the Newport player didn't even get the ball past the top of the key! Meyer is a solid player but that substitution almost got NCC in big trouble. I'm sure the NCC brass has their reasons and they came out on top but it's a great question cchwildcat?

Yes he was back. However, he did not play at all in the 1st quarter and did not start the 2nd half. He made the difference for NCC getting out of a 20 point hole in the 1st match up. (only to lose to a buzzer beater.) He is very good at feeding the ball down low. Normally plays with a lot of heart. I do think he has recovered from the broken elbow, had a nice tournament.

Way to go MVP Matthew!! The "Cobra" strikes! Anf congrats to Big Jake! The gaggle of Gieslers fly high! Good luck down state!!
