gchs_uk9 Posted January 24, 2009 Posted January 24, 2009 Final in the 13th Region All-A championship game. Mild upset? Any details? Maybe a mild upset, but Pineville is 14-8 and has won six of their last eight games. Also, Pineville won the 13th Region All A last season so don't count out experience over Middlesboro.
polarbear1994 Posted January 24, 2009 Posted January 24, 2009 Pineville gets the winner of Deming/Calvary Christian in Richmond.
gchs_uk9 Posted January 24, 2009 Posted January 24, 2009 Pineville gets the winner of Deming/Calvary Christian in Richmond. I would probably say Pineville would be a slim favorite in that game, but it will be close. The big thing for Pineville, as I said earlier, is that they have been to Richmond before. McBrayer on the first night might be a little overwhelming for Deming or Calvary.
Commander 25 Posted January 24, 2009 Posted January 24, 2009 Congrats to Pineville. Good luck in the All A. It couldn't have happend to a better coach than JD.
Lion Mania Posted January 24, 2009 Posted January 24, 2009 If both Elliott and Pineville could win first round games then a Friday night matchup would have two teams that rely on their guards for scoring and leadership. Strange vs. Ev./Et. Faulkner??
GandW4life Posted January 24, 2009 Posted January 24, 2009 (edited) I was at the game. First time I had seen both teams play. Just watching both teams warm up I thought that Middlesboro looked like the slightly bigger, stronger, and athletic team. I also noticed that Pineville can absolutely light it up from out side the arc. Both teams played hard throughout and put on a good show for the fans. Pineville hit a Buzzer shot to win the game. Pineville vs Deming would be a good match-up to see but whichever one of those teams wins that one, I think will have a really hard time with Elliott. Cawoodball player Posted January 24, 2009 Posted January 24, 2009 If I had to guess, I would say coaching was a big factor in this one. I'm not going to comment on either coach, just stating.

If you ask all of the people that has been hyping Middlesboro up, they would say it's a mild upset, but I don't believe so. Pineville is a good team, but for people to say Middlesboro has the second best talent in the region is going out on a limb.
HDE Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 I don't think Pineville was on either of our top 10 lists coming into the season. Strange has done a tremendous job this season with a team that lost four starters. I think it's an upset but not shocking because Pineville has played well most of the season.
