Is he a Senior or Junior this year? Thought he was a junior but it says class of '09.

Why isn't this kid being talked about more? If he's a junior UK needs to be on him. He's got a monster body and monster work ethic from what I hear. Billy G needs a kid like this. Not a another blue chip with an attitude.

A great story on a really good kid, hope nothing but the best for Matthew! He is a junior.

I agree with your statement. I've seen both play and I would take him over Euton. I've covered him since his middle school days and the kid has improved tremendously.

I hope he turns out to be great. It's no surprise that I'm no fan of South but I love to see kids from this area do well and go on to bigger and better things. I too think St. John is better than Euton. UK and major D1 may be stretching it a little bit based on athleticism but I could see him having a great 4 year career at a Western, Dayton, UAB, type of D1 school. Hopefully he can keep improving himself though and become these things. He obviously has the work ethic. I remember when he was a freshman, I thought, here is a chubby mountain kid that couldn't jump over a golf tee, where is this hype coming from? As he has matured and gotten older, I have became more and more impressed with him.

So can some Laurel Co folk let us in on his recruitment? This kid needs to be at UK. He shows more promise than Euton.

I think he and Euton are close to the same caliber. Euton has a little better footwork and St.John has better touch.

I have watched both play over the last 2-3 years...

Personally, neither are UK caliber talents. Please don't take that the wrong way, just trying to calling it like I see it.

I love how much this kid has improved. I am not 100% convinced that he is a major D1 prospect just yet, but there is no doubt he can play at the collegiate level. If he keeps improving, he certainly could be a D1 player. He is pretty strong, good footwork, and has a nice outside shot. Coach Wright and Denny have helped him tremendously and he is a pleasure to watch play. I would like to see him step outside a little more because he can stroke the long ball. I think it would open up the paint for the other Cardinals even more because you have to stay with him on the outside.
