We'll just have to agree to disagree. I think and feel that if we play our best ball that there is no way Lincoln is 15-20 points better than us and I don't think their pressure defense forced that many turnovers on us. They might have gotten a couple of steals on passes to Aumiller and hitting it out of his hands 2-3 times, but the lazy passes, the passes to nobody, the carelessness of taking care of the ball did us in. If we don't turn the ball over we can get the ball inside which creates open shots for the guards, but we couldn't protect the ball to long enough to establish the inside. You had no answer for Glasscock or Aumiller when they actually got the ball inside.

 

I was very impressed with your outside shooting, though. I love when a team has 5 guys on the court who can shoot the 3 efficiently.

 

LC constantly pressures the ball, and makes everyone on the court work on every possesion. That wears down the other team and causes a lot of laziness. BC did have some unforced to's but to say LC didn't cause a majority of them is incorrect.

 

They didn't have an answer for the post play of BC, but BC doesn't have an answer for anything LC wanted to do. LC shot very, very poorly and won easily. If BC cuts down on the turnovers, and LC shoots a little better it's a wash. Still a blow out. I realize Boyle didn't play well, but neither did LC. That's all I am saying.

 

BC is going to have a tough time not being the 4 seed in the district, IMO.

I like Ty, he is a great kid and my son thinks a lot of Ty. He has been at Boyle for a while though hasn't he? I think Trevor just came this year so I don't know him that well.

 

Yeah, he's been there for his entire high school career. He's a Lincoln Countian though. They both seem like good kids.

Hopefully we will find out next time these two meet. I still think if we cut down drastically on the turnovers, we are a different team. I think cutting down on the turnovers changes the whole game. Our pressure defense in the third quarter caused fits for LC, but it was only for most of the third when the defense was effective. We could have at least gotten LC's lead to single digits had we not kept turning it over which would have made for a much more manageable game. Hopefully we'll get the best of both teams next time around.

I saw Trent Edgington getting time tonight. Does he get regular varsity minutes? I have been watching him the last 3 years in middle school and I know he is the next great PG at Lincoln. He is a fundamentally sound throw back PG. I look for him to have a successful career at Lincoln.

He gets a few minutes here and there. He has played a lot lately. Jackson is good at grooming guards.

Well once again no guard play. Not counting Austin, who is called a foreword, Boyle's guards had 5 points with Austin we had 14 points. So when our guards score under 16 points we have lost every game. 16 or more and we have won every game. Through 3 quarters our guards took around 7 shots, this will not get it done. Glasscock had 8 of 16 points in the 1st half and was sitting most of the 2nd quarter?

Lincoln does have a good team and when Spurlin gets the help he got tonight they are going to be very tough to beat. Their pressure looked good at times, but BC has turned the ball over all year long. I don't know how to fix it, but it needs to be fixed yesterday.

I have read every bit of this thread, and I can't believe, from Boyle and Lincoln fans, 2 very bitter rivals, no one has made any comments about the officiating. For that not to happen, it must've been pretty decent. Or since it was such a lopsided game, must not have been too much to call.

I just do not understand this team. We have everyone back from last season (except for Williams and Bottoms). We were picked 2nd or 3rd in most preseason polls going on what we had coming back. Aumiller was selectd as the second best player in the region behind Watts and we have 4 wins!I hear you purplepride about not looking back but looking forward does not look good. If you wont let me blame the new coach for poor passes, lack of intensity, and overall poor play,Who do I blame? It is hard to blame the kids. These are things that this coach must fix. Bottoms was a great coach, I think BC has made some questionable hiring and firing in the basketball coaching department over the last couple of years.

 

Williams was a good scorer, something the team is missing. Before him, there was Perrin. The team is missing a scorer like those two.

I do think we lack floor leadership. I think we lack confidence. I think we don't play with enough intensity for a full 32 minutes. I think because of the subbing pattern no one can figure out, the boys spend too much time looking at the bench every time the horn sounds. I think they hang their heads way too much when we get down. Maybe they need a players only meeting so they can decide what they want for themselves out of this season. They are certainly capable of winning the district tournament and making some noise in the regional tournament, but I don't feel like they believe they are. They need to feel like they are good enough to be good enough. I feel like they expect to lose. I think if they played like they expect to win then they will win.

 

Aumiller is capable of being a scorer like Williams and Perrin and Glasscock has shown all season he can score when they get the ball to him. I know Aumiller's shoulder has been a problem and may continue to be and I do want to say I am proud of him for even playing basketball and I appreciate what he brings to the team.

 

I just hope at this point we can right the ship by tournament time.
