January 12, 200917 yr Plasmas are generally better for gaming and sports watching. They have deeper blacks and quicker refresh rates. The new LCDs now have 120hz, however, a plasma already has 480hz. The life of a plasma is much longer compared to years ago, so that isn't much of an issue anymore. If you have a bright room where you want the TV, then it'd be best to get an LCD. However, the Samsung 750 LCD has the same glare issue as a plasma, so be carefull there as not all LCDs are the same. Yes, plasmas do use more energy, but it's only a couple dollars more a month, which IMO, isn't that big of a deal. Also, when buying any HD set, don't let the salesman talk you into a $100 HDMI cord. A $10 one will work just fine.
January 12, 200917 yr A $10 one will work just fine. When I bought my Samsung 750 I think this other salesman got a bit upset when I told this older couple just that, lol. Told them to go WalMart or Meijers and get one for 15 or 20 bucks, he told me I was wrong, But I told him that "in theory" a coat hanger will work just as well. Told them to go check out WCPO's Don't waster you money website which says just that. lol. I LOVE my new Samsung 750 LCD! Depends on how much light you have in your room on what will be best for you, a lot of outside light? Then go LCD. Most is personal preference, but using a consumer rating guide is helpful as well.
January 12, 200917 yr Personally I've thought that the LCDs look better in the showrooms compared to the plasmas. The fact that they use less energy and (correct me if I'm wrong) have a longer lifespan is also a factor. Thats why I bought an LCD.

They all push the monster cables. For a video feed, there's no reason to buy the more expensive stuff. They all carry the digital signal. Now, for audio, that's completely different. You want a higher grade cable for that.
