Why does the defense never get credit for the turnovers? It's always the offense that gets blamed.

 

Creating TOs is what Baltimore does. We should not be surprised.

The Ravens are a bunch of thugs, I'll root against them the rest of the way and take joy when I see one hurt. They purposely try and injure players even after the whistle blows. Ed Reed may be talented but he's a scum bag and so is Suggs

 

I guess I was watching a different game than you. The only dirty playing I saw was from the Titans. Mostly that offensive lineman who was throwing punches after the whistle. I am anything but a Ravens fan, but they play very hard on defense.

Obviously you didn't watch the Dolphins game last week and I can't see how anyone who watched the game yesterday missed Ed Reed trying to break Johnson's back after the whistle which I believe was the reason he sat out the 2nd half

The Titans gave this game away. Penalties and turnovers. This one was tougher to stomach than the first one, because I think the Titans were a much better team than Baltimore this time around. This Ravens defense isn't as dominant and the offense is worse.

 

Posts #2, 9, and 12 sum this game up perfectly.

 

The Titans get the early 7-0 lead and promptly give it back with a blown coverage against an offense that probably hasn't hit 3 plays over 30 yards all season (exaggeration). Fischer again inexplicably passes on a FG attempt and the Titans fumble the snap and Baltimore takes over where they would have on a missed FG. LenDale White fumbles at least 3 points away.

 

So, the Titans dominate the first half and its tied at 7. At that point, I still felt confident about getting the W. However, when the second half started and LenDale White was the RB, I knew CJ was hurt...and I knew the Titans offense would struggle to move the ball. (Very frustrating, BTW, to play the whole season and then see your best offensive player, and possibly your best player period, get hurt after shredding one of the best D's in the league in the first half.) LenDale ain't even comparable to Johnson...he's slow, he can't catch, he fumbles more, and he's worse in pass protection. Johnson's injury was huge.

 

Amazingly though, the Titans offense started to move the ball again in the 4th. But, then Alge Crumpler decided to get in on the "Let's Blow this game and ruin our great season" party....at that point, I knew the Titans weren't going to win. So, I turned the TV off.

 

After that, any details other than an exchange of FG's, I couldn't comment on. I did hear some analysts debating the play clock issue....let me be the first to tell you as a Titans fan....SHUT UP! The Titans gave this game away. Period. Give the Ravens credit for capitalizing on the opportunity.

 

And, I wish, like UKMustangFan, that I'd known Tennessee would commit 264 penalties, 3 TO's, and Chris Johnson would miss the entire second half with an ankle injury. I'm not psychic though, so I based my pick on what I'd seen from these two teams all season. After watching the NFL for the past 3 seasons, I should have known that what teams do during the regular season doesn't mean a thing...the team that plays best during the season never finishes that way.

 

So, here's to hoping for a 10-6 Wild Card berth for Tennessee in 2009...might have a chance to do something in the playoffs if that happens.

I know in the last three seasons, the wild card teams have had much more post-season success...and that's really my point. In the new age NFL, there isn't a huge gap between the #1 team and the #16 team. Look at this season...SD and Arizona wouldn't even be in the playoffs if you went strictly by records, yet look what they've done. Teams like NE, NY Jets, Houston Texans, Tampa Bay, Chicago, Dallas, etc...are all capable of beating pretty much anyone in the playoffs.

 

The NFL is basically a crapshoot these days...the only thing that matters is making the playoffs and being hot when you get there because with the salary cap, the talent levels are relatively even when comparing playoff teams.

Ed Reed did try to snap Chris Johnson in half. I do not think the whistle had blown yet though, so it is what it is.
