It's going to be hard for Baltimore to win in Nashville. That place can get pretty rowdy when the Titans are playing well. That said, they are a good team so they have a shot. I think Tennessee will win, but I think it will be close.

If neither offense makes a mistake and gives points away, then flip a coin, IMO. If it plays out that way, the game will likely be decided by which team can make two or three big plays to get their team in scoring range, whether the plays come via offense or special teams....also, red zone visits could be scarce, so making them count with TD's could decide the game as well.

 

I could easily see this being one of those games where one offense actually moves the ball better, but settles for FG's, while the other offense struggles, but makes a couple of good drives count with TD's and wins the game.

 

Keys for the Titans, IMO...

 

1. No huge mistakes on offense or special teams that results in points either directly or indirectly.

2. Win the field position battle...that means solid kicking and coverage, and getting at least a couple of first downs on drives even if they don't score.

3. Run the football effectively. I'm aware that they're not going to run all over Baltimore, but it's important that they stick with the run and do it effectively.

4. Score TD's when you get in the red zone.

5. Keep the Ravens defense off balance...that means mix in some runs on obvious passing downs...and take some shots downfield on obvious run downs. A handful of big plays could decided this game, so I think taking a shot on a big play on a 3rd and 1 would be worth the risk on at least a couple of occasions...especially if you're in favorable field position.

I'm pretty excited about this game. I can't wait to be honest. I've been waiting all year for the Titans and the playoffs and now it's finally here.

 

Two points (as a Titans fan)...

 

1. Seeing as how I hate the Ravens, there is nothing better than beating them in a playoff game. (Interestingly enough, people keep talking about the '02 playoff game when Baltimore beat the top-seeded Titans...however, the Titans actually beat the Ravens in a 2004 playoff game. Personally, I don't think this Ravens defense is as good as the '02 version.)

 

2. Seeing as how I hate the Ravens more than any team, nothing could worse than seeing them beat your favorite team out of the playoffs in a year when they have a great shot at winning a Super Bow. (I've lived through this once, and let me tell you, I didn't like it.)

 

In fact, just to drive home how much I dislike the Ravens, let me make this statement...and let me assure you that I am 100% telling the truth. That 2002 playoff loss to Baltimore was more painful and harder for me to stomach than coming up one yard short of tying the Super Bowl against St. Louis. And, here's why (in addition to just hating Baltimore)...in the Super Bowl, the Titans weren't supposed to be there and they weren't supposed to be in that game. In 2002, they were the top seed and they should have won the Super Bowl and Baltimore stole it away. No team had run for 100 yards against Baltimore, and yet the Titans Eddie George was over 90 early in the 4th...then George bobbled a pass from McNair and Lewis snatched it out of the air and took it for 6. Then the Titans had to play from behind, they gave away another TD, and had to abandon the run and everything fell apart. Honestly, the worst loss I've ever suffered as a Titans fan. Worse than the Super Bowl...worse than Elway beating the Oilers with a vintage last minute drive...and worse than blowing a 32-point second half lead to Frank Reich.

 

I cannot stomach it again. If it happens, don't be surprised if you do not see me in the post game discussion thread.:lol:

Tennessee had the best record in the NFL. They've had basically two weeks to rest, so they're healthy and fresh. They're playing at home. And, they beat the Ravens in Baltimore during the regular season.

 

Conclusion: Baltimore should win this one.
