I hate Macs. Other than iPods/iPhones, I hate Apple period. Never liked them, they aren't compatible with most of the software I use, and I can't stand the "better than you/look how cool we are!" aire that the company has.

 

I never thought I'd use a Mac...and then I bought one. It's the best computer I've ever had :lol:.

And I am still forced to use PCs. IMO Macs are just better. Better, faster, stronger. I used PCs for most of my life, and switching to Mac was like a breath of fresh air.

 

Macs are ready to use right out of the box, just turn it on and go.

 

Macs have no widespread viruses.

 

Mac OS is much more intuitive to use than Windows and it just makes more sense, not to mention much cleaner (neater) looking. If you took two people who had never used computers before, the Mac would be easier for them to use.

 

My Mac has a great, fast boot-up time. Most PC's seem to take 2-5 minutes to load up the OS. My Mac is on and I'm checking my e-mail in under 30 seconds.

 

Macs can run Windows if you really need it. Thanks Bootcamp.

 

Windows Vista is a horrid OS and Apple doesn't load down their Macs with a bunch of crap software you don't need, like a free trial of AOL, or a 30 day subscription to Encarta or some similar junk.

I can turn my Mac on and be on the internet 10X faster than I could be on a PC. I still have a Compaq Laptop and I use it from time to time. It is so hard to go from my iMac to that...because my iMac is so much faster.

Being that I am certain neither of us will yield to the other, we can just agree to disagree. I can agree with your statements on ready to use out of the box and no widespread viruses. I do think a lot of your statements are based on Vista, which I agree, is a terrible, terrible product, which is why none of my PCs will ever have them.

Like I said, I've dealt with Macs a great portion of my life. Since I was 7 or so really as our school system exclusively used Macs. I would not define a single Mac I have used as having been better than what I have at home. I don't know if that's because I know what I'm doing or that is my personal PC, but for whatever reason, I have never found it preferable. And as I said, if nothing else were enough, the fact that they are not compatible with software I have to use (Sony Vegas comes to mind) is enough to make me never use a Mac.

A PC always comes with junk already installed on it, not just on Vista. My last PC was XP and it had so much extra junk that I would never use on it, I still haven't deleted it all :lol:. And it is around 4 years old!

 

The whole makeup of the new iMac suits me perfectly. It doesn't take up too much room, the screen is beautiful, the hard drive is huge, it runs FAR faster than any PC I've ever been on...it is by FAR better than an PC I've ever used. I'm not sure what PC you are using, but if you are using one that runs as well as a Mac, you are using a very good PC. I've never seen (even a brand new) PC load up and run as fast as my iMac.

I don't know what to tell you about extra junk. Whenever I order from Dell, there are all kinds of options to remove software. And if there is anything that sneaks through, it takes no time at all to remove it.

Just switch to Linux and you'll never argue about an OS again.

That's the main reason I got Sony Vegas was for AVCHD capabilities. Though i've heard newer versions of Avid are able to import the .m2t file as well. I am kinda having problems with Vegas though. After filming ball games I try to import footage (00001.mts for example) and only around 8 of 12 minutes of it will appear on the timeline. I'm trying to figure out what the deal is... But it's stumped me so far.

I just bought a new computer in September with *GASP* Vista on it. I had heard all of the horror stoires about Vista and put off buying a new PC for a while because of them. I finally had to get a new one because my 8 year old PC gave up the ghost.

 

I want to know what all of the horror stories about Vista are. To tell the truth I like it. And when I bought my computer there was no bundled software on it. I loaded what I wanted. It's a Dell with a 600 gb hard drive and 6 gb RAM. How I would ever need more then that escapes me as I've got thousands of poictures and songs on it and i am still at less then 10% of capacity.

 

While I may not be up and on the web in 30 seconds (it takes about a minute for my PC to boot) that lag certainly wasn't worth the extra expense of converting 100% to a Mac.
