He has one and maybe 2 sons who play for Burgin. His oldest is their best player.

It takes a lot of guts and hard work to coach at schools like Burgin and Augusta. Watching him on the sidelines you can tell that he thouroughly enjoys the game and coaching. Good win for him and his players!

Granted, he did hit one big 3 pointer but I think that it is fair to say that he was around 2 for 6 from 3 point land and had at least 3 turnovers. Question is this: Who would you rather have on the court, McCloud or Cinnamon? Cinnamon is 6'3, a better shooter, driver and rebounder. McCloud is 5'7 and maybe handles the ball better but does put out maximum effort.

By the way, I am not saying that he shouldn't be playing but he shouldn't be jacking up shots like DeAndre Liggins and playing in front of Cinnamon.

 

Once again, McCloud and Cinnamon do not play the same position.

No excuses with me. The truth is that Mercer played a kid who had hardly played much this year in favor of their 2nd best player and that the refs made 3 critical incorrect calls in the last minute of the game. Quit hiding out at Corning and go to the games. At that point you can make your own analysis about what happened.

I won't be at any games where there isn't at least one team with Boyle County on the uniform, except for the Mercer County Rec league games in which my youngest son will be playing.

 

As far making my own analysis, all I am saying is, the refs don't win or lose the game. If Mercer is that much better than Burgin that they should win 10 times out of 10 like you said, then the refs or the coaching shouldn't have mattered. I know how much it kills the Mercer County psyche to lose to little old Burgin, but that's twice in a one year period so obviously it isn't a fluke and blaming the refs and the coaching is a cop out. You got beat, deal with it, learn from it and move on. If anything both teams will become better from this game.

As a neutral bystander, the officiating was no worse or better than any other 12th region games. I believe you just see it as a poorly officated game because of your team coming out as the loser. If you were a Burgin fan, maybe seeing it the other way??

Possibly, but I doubt it. I was sitting in the Burgin section and they were laughing about the bad calls that were made against Mercer. The 3 man crew consisted of Doug Coulter, Dwight Carmike and ex official John Drake's son. Doug Coulter is a good official who has been around a long time and did a very good job. Carmike has a long ways to go to be a top official but is good enough not to miss or make the bad calls that he did on Saturday night. Drake missed a blatant palming call that led to 2 easy points for Burgin in the last 2 minutes of the game and then came back down the court and told Mercer's coach that he just "missed it". Overall, the game was not badly officiated, just the last 3 or 4 minutes.

Burgin's team hustled and played to win the entire game. Kudos to them. Mercer had no consistency to their offense until the 4th quarter which IMO was due to 3 things. Mercer not coming out with intensity, Taylor getting 2 fouls on him in the first quarter and weird substitutions.

Give me a break. I don't know what kind of ruler you use. No where close to 8 inches taller. And like an earlier poster said, McCloud and Cinnamon don't play the same position.

I can't believe they lost this one. I thought they should have played more physical.

The official listing for Andrew McCloud's brother who plays football at WKU is 5'8. He is not any taller than his brother and we know how college teams like to exagerrate a players hieght. Cinnamon is a good 6'2 but could be 6'3. You do the math.

Not sure what your beef is with Matthew McCloud he's a hard worker and a team player. And like another poster said he helped spark the turn around in the game. He had a couple of steals and rebounds to go with the the couple of 3s he made.

 

Clay is a good basketball player (arguably the best on the team) and will get better and better as he gets stronger. He's only a Soph and may still yet get a little taller by his senior year. He'll play college ball somewhere.

I have no beef with McCloud and do not dispute that he is a hard worker and a team player and yes he made a couple of threes but how many did he miss and how many turnovers did he have? My point is this, would you as a coach rather have your best outside shooter taking 3 point shots or would you rather have your 7th or 8th man off the bench taking these shots?
