Maybe Mike is setting up an interesting game next Saturday in the KY Prep Classic at Montomery County?? Anderson vs. Elliott in the 5:45PM second game that evening!! He notes they lost close to J-Town and Scott County, but says nothing about their 5 pt. loss to Bullitt East. My bet is that Cantrell has them between 15-20 on Monday. LIT has them rated what would be

#28 if they went past the Top 20. Have seen them play and their biggest problem is guard play which is a strength for Elliott County.

Lion, you could be right. I believe the #28 position is about right...maybe a few notches higher. I like Penney, but I do not believe they have the team to rate anywhere in the top 20.

Anderson County is a top 20 team, but I have to concur with Doomer in that I think that - based on present performance - a top 10 ranking is a bit high...

Looks pretty accurate although you could definitely place question marks around Anderson and probably a couple for Clark County. I don't know if they have proved to be top 10 teams but I can't think of many teams to replace them either. Thoughts...

1. HOLMES: Dave Henley’s Bulldogs avenged their only loss by beating Bryan Station on its homecourt. Holmes also knocked off preseason No. 1 Scott County in impressive fashion. The scary part about Holmes is that its roster is loaded with underclassmen who are going to get better, and more confident.

 

Hmm...sounds a lot like what this person I know has been saying all season. I think I like this guy.

 

In all seriousness though, I'm not too worried about rankings anymore. What matters most is who's #1 after March 21st.

Like most individuals' rankings, Mike's rankings are only as good as his knowledge base... you see a very definite central KY bias here... not that I'm saying his rankings are off, mind you. They're certainly all very defensible.

 

Unfortunately, there is no really super-good ranking system in the state. The human polls are biased by the fact that none of the pollsters have seen all the major players...and the computer rankings are biased by the fact they are created from only tangible facts, such as scoring averages, winning margines, etc, and do not include the intangibles that so often decide basketball games.

 

Like Eta said, the only ranking worth poop is the one in late March!

There is no doubt that Anderson's best players are inside players. Anderson's front court is as good. Scott has the best and Anderson's Penny, Russell, and Humphries was giving them problems. I think Anderson can play with anyone because they don't turn the ball the over, but I think any team in the top 50 can beat them. Anderson will get some good test this week when rival Shelby comes to town, they go to Oldham, and EC later in the week. I heard EC has trouble with tall physical players and that is what Anderson has.
