I'd like to do it in May or June before it get really hot and really crowded.It's nice to go there in the spring, when the trees are blooming. But it can get a little crowded then. You also want to make sure you go when Congress is in session. That way, you can sit in on some of the proceedings; and there will be lots of famous faces milling about. Ask your senator for passes to the various facilities.
