Man, the Bears must be down in talent or something with this record aren't they? Any thing coming along in the near future?

Bracken IMO has been down for awhile. Last decent good year to my memory was 04 or 05.

Not making excuses, but Bracken is a small school, who now has football and has changed coaches a few times lately. But always seem to have a good faithful fan base and will take there turn with good classes coming thru like every other small school.

I heard earlier in the year, they would be pretty good this year though. From the stats on Khsaa, they have a kid that scores a lot pretty consistently.

They do seem to have a nice fan base dont they. Any time I see them play, that is the case. They deserve a nice year around there. Hopefully they will get it soon!!

Bracken has some pretty decent talent, just not putting it together as a team. Don't look for much improvement this year, unless some hard decisions are made, and I don't see that happening.

Bracken Co. is a young team but they do have talent. The problem this year is they have an inexperienced coaching staff that has no discipline or structure in their game plan. They play no defense and the offense is just one on one. They really do not have any offensive plays! The whole program is just a complete wreck. The boys deserve much more than they are getting.

If all of your observations are correct, they have no farther to look than the first half that they played against Brossart on Monday night to discover what will make them successful.

 

I was impressed with their patience in getting a high percentage shot, their execution in finishing shots, their defensive efforts on staying on their feet, pressuring the ball, getting in the passing lanes, and providing weakside help.

 

They made two critical errors at the end of both the first and second period. When they should have been playing for one shot at the end of the first period Workman got impatient and charged, setting up a Jacob Rieger basket to end the quarter, and nearing the end of the half, Dylan Hamilton pulled the trigger way too quick, and again the Mustangs converted, providing the primary difference in the 33-27 halftime score.

 

I was EXTREMELY impressed with sophomore Todd Jefferson, who not only scored 20 points in the game, but played intimidating defense.

If you feel the Polar Bears have no future, point him in our direction, we will be happy to provide him a starting position for the next two years - no questions asked!!!!

 

I don't know about Coach Breeze's experience or that of his staff, but personally, I thought that, with the exception of sending us to the FT line 20 times in the 4th quarter, after the game was long decided, he had a great game plan and his players played hard to the final horn.

 

Don't give up on these guys, a little encouragement might be in order!

The players have been encouraged all year and will be the entire year but starting 2-11 the players need more. Completely agree with everything you said, just think people in Bracken County are dissatisfied with losing, the football team coming off a winless season and now the basketball team is struggling when this was supposed to be maybe a break through season. Does anyone know if their senior point guard Levi Appleman is going to play this season?, thought he only had a sprain, but has been out all season, that could be a reason for a lot of the losses.

I believe Bracken Co. needs a head coach with a little more experience. Breeze looks awfully young.

I think, in my case anyway that thought by bringing in a guy who had been on Western Kentucky's staff that this team was going to be guns blazing right from the start,challenge for All A,etc. But with the way things have gone so far this season, most everyone in Bracken County thinks they could have coached them better than a 2-11 season so far. Wanting results,but not getting any,same as with football team. I'll ask again,anyone know when or if Levi Appleman(the point guard) will play this season?

However, Rome wasn't built in a day. Brossart defense isn't something that Coach Code wrote up on the chalk-board one day, suddenly making the Mustangs a great defensive unit. It takes literally hours of practice a day, discipline to believe it in, and long-term positive results to make it a way of life.

 

Potential and a buck and a half will get you a cup of coffee, but the Polar Bears need to look in the mirror, realize that their efforts to date have netted them a losing record, discover that the potential is there to be winners, and then take the necessary steps (regardless of how anti-instinctive they might be) to become winners. Valuing each possession and taking high-percentage shots might be a good place to start, and actually getting serious about playing defense would greatly enhance their chances.

Workman and Hamilton are shooters without a doubt. The ball should be put in their hands alot more.
