ITunes/IPod Help Needed

Featured Replies

Merry Christmas to all first of all. I need some help. I need a way to transfer my ITunes library to my new lap top I got for Christmas. What is the best way to do this, that is both easy and affordable?

Do you have an external hard drive by any chance?

Like a Flash Drive?

No, like an external hard drive.... A flash drive would work, but it would take FOREVER to move all of your files.

Yeah, true. Ill research some external hard drives. Is there any way that I could just plug my IPod into the lap top and transfer my songs that way?

Maybe... When I plug in my iPhone, it backs up the data on the phone, but I don't know if you can do an iPod the same way, or if you can acccess that info.

If you download a lot of music, an external hard drive would be good. You can set up your program that you download with to automatically DL onto the external, that way you can just unplug your external and move it from computer to computer if necessary. Plus, it doesn't clog up space on your computer with music.

Thanks man. You've been a lot of help.

Not a problem. :thumb:

What kind of Ipod do you have and how much music do you have to transfer? Your Ipod will work for transfering but if you have way more music then your ipod will hold it may take a while however it's pretty simple.

What's the trick? It keeps telling me there is no iPod on this computer.

Try the programs "Senuti" or "TouchCopy". Both have worked for me, even though they are only free trials.

All I need to do is switch music from old laptop to new one, you think the trial will last for that?

Actually I am not sure.

I misunderstood. I used Senuti to transfer songs from my iPod to my new computer, not from another computer to a new computer. An external hard drive will work for what you need it for.

Do you have a DVD Burner in your computer? You could always just burn them onto DVD discs which can hold 4.7GB each and copy them over to the new one.
