A friend gave me a whole slew of them.

Mason County again had a big second half.

 

At one point in the third, X went up by six and Stenger was having his way at the time. Pawsat hits a 3 and turns it into a 4-point play, mason gets a turnover on the other end and Middleton knocks down another 3. Turned into a 16-1 Mason County run.

 

Stenger had 24, Middleton had 22 and both were their teams MVPs.

Congrats to the Royals.

Good win for the Royals. I still like GRC, but the gap is closing from what it was a few weeks ago. Looks like Mason will be right there looking to re-capture their 10th Region title.

 

I hope they continue to do well and only have a few losses when they come to Sandy Hook on 10 Feb. Will make for a very hyped and interesting game if they are on a win streak and only have a handful of losses when they play Elliott in about 8 weeks.

The 08-09 Royals are really beginning to grow on me. They've still got alot of work to do but I really like their effort, teamwork, and potential. I'm excited--maybe more so than last year.

Mason County changed their defense and allowed the 6'1" Neal Pawsatt to guard Stenger in the second half. Neal did an amazing job against a much bigger player. Including taking a charge down the stretch to put the game away.

 

I have seen Barner's name mentioned on a couple of top player lists. He is a freakish athlete with very little basketball skill.

Pawsatt is bigger than 6'1. He's ATLEAST 6'3. He was the same size as both Isler and Wellbrock of Covcath and they're listed at 6'4.

Mmm I'd say he is 6'2 or 6'3. He wasn't as tall as Wellbrock or Isler. But he was a big boy. Had a lot of strength.

Other than Middleton I thought Pawsett was the most impressive player on the floor in the Mason-Scott game on Friday night. This was a very good win for Mason Co but this is not your typical Cinti St X team. They are very young and inexperienced and will be near the bottom of the GCL this season. They are always well coached and this is still a quality win for Mason Co. Stenger averaged about 3-4 ppg last season and I am not sure if he was a full time starter. He has developed into a very good player and will be playing collegiately somewhere next season

Neil is all of 6'2" and very athletic, the way he plays basketball, you would think he was a linebacker in football not a quarterback. He hustles and dives all over the place. He's fun to watch.
