December 7, 200817 yr And you can not prove that. The Giants have 3 wins without Plax over Seattle, Arizona, and Washington. They have proven they can win without him. The reason they lost is because Philly played better today. Big difference is that teams don't have to gameplan for Plax, where in the past even if he was questionable or possibly out, they still had to gameplan for the off chance that he did play.

And like I said, not having him doesn't help at all. But the Giants still have more than enough talent in Hixon, Toomer, Smith, Boss, and Moss to get the job done. I could not believe some of the idiotic play calls Kevin Gilbride made today. A combination of poor play calling, dropped passes, an injury to Jacobs and the defense not being able to get off the field on third downs are the reasons the Giants lost. And as much as it sucks that they lost today, they are still 11-2. I can't complain right now...they're doing far better than anyone here ever would have imagined.

They don't have to be spectacular as long as the running game is going. Today, they didn't run enough IMO. With the wind at Giants stadium today I think they should have thrown a lot of short passes, and pounded the ball as much as possible. On the Giants first drive, for some odd reason, they tried a stupid reverse to Manningham that lost like 10 yards and destroyed the drive. There are a few other examples of weird calls that I could list too...

December 8, 200817 yr It obviously doesn't help that they lost Burress. I understand that and I haven't said that it does. All I said is that not having Burress isn't the reason they lost today. I agree, they were beaten by a better team today. Losing Plax is huge. They may overcome it, but I wouldn't bet on it. I could see Dallas getting the 6 seed and reversing last years Divisional round road win.
