Two overtimes. Mercer was short handed. Played a great game

All I can say is — YIKES! There is no clear-cut favorite in the 12th.

Did Watts play?

78-74 Mccreary in 2OT. Yes Watts played and played well, believe he ended up with 28. Mercer had the lead the whole game until late in the 4th it started going back and forth. Mercer played with no football players but looked very good none the less. I think Taylor for Mercer had 29 Dedman 18 and a good looking sophmore Cinnamon had 16.

I figured it would be close. Mercer has the potential to be one of the top teams in the region and IMO McCreary is not heads and shoulders above the rest of the region. Too bad that this was the first game of the year and on a Tuesday night.

The Raiders started out very sluggish against a well prepared Mercer team last night. Both teams played a hard fought game and it wasn't until midway through the 4th quarter that McCreary was able to get the stops they needed on defense to make the comeback. With a three point lead with under 1 min to go in the first OT, Mercer was able to get the ball into #23(name?) for a and 1 to tie it up. That sent it into 2 OT. I thought Mercer did a good job on Watts for the first 4 quarters (couldn't stop him but definitely contained him). Mercer is a very solid and well coached team. Good luck to them the rest of the season. Good win for the Raiders! :thumb:

Mercer has a good sophomore class that beat Lexington Catholic as freshman last year. Surprised sophomores Honchel and Sagraves didn't get on the scoreboard for Mercer?? Did they get any playing time?? Appears from this score that the 12th is wide open indeed.........

Honchel was sick with a virus and didnt make the trip. Sagraves played well, didnt score but gave Mercer solid minutes. This was his very first varsity game so he probably was a little nervous.

Sounds like a very entertaining game.

Glad to hear Watts is able to play after his terrible accident.

How come no football players for Mercer and will they make that much of a difference when they do come?
