...It also led to greater exposure. University of Kentucky coach Billy Gillispie was reportedly impressed with the duo's performance at the Sweet Sixteen. Both players were invited to attend UK's Big Blue Madness team preview night. University of Cincinnati coach Mick Cronin and West Virginia coach Bob Huggins both have attended preseason practices at Holmes.

You'll see a lot of stuff on here about them this year. Ryan Ernst of the NKY Enquirer loves covering them.

 

But no Holmes isn't in the 5/3rd this year. They play in the Defenders of the Station tournament (against Tates Creek, Ballard, and Knox Central), then the Lloyd Memorial Christmas Tournament (against Seneca), and they are playing in the Laurel Co Hoopfest against Largo, Md, which is the defending class 3A state champs up there.

And therein lies the concern for area coaches. As good as Johnson and Pittman are, there is plenty of room for improvement between now and graduation.

 

"We all know that Holmes is at the top of the mountain this year," Covington Catholic coach Mike Listerman said. "And with those guys, it looks like they could be at the top of the mountain for the next two years. They're just in the middle of one of those great runs of talent. That's what the rest of us have to contend with."

Pittman's dad is around 6'8, 6'9. I'd say he still has a few inches left in him considering he's only 16 and already 6'7.

 

I was a little surprised though that both of the Johnson Brothers grew the way they did over the summer. Both are 6'5 now with JJ probably being a little bit bigger than Cardo.
