November 26, 200817 yr I think that we could use something more substantial to discuss. http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/11/26/transition.wrap/index.html Good luck. We're at 106 posts and counting on the "we don't like the idea of the Office of the President-Elect and the high and mighty way that President-Elect Obama comes across" thread.

November 26, 200817 yr Just so I understand, this is basically an ad hoc committee; and in 2 years its continued necessity will be evaluated?

November 26, 200817 yr Yes, thanks to both of you for your participation. :thumb: You're more than welcome. I look forward to similar participation from the same cast of characters in this thread as well.:thumb:
November 26, 200817 yr  True Blue, have you forgotten were in Ky?That sounds like something Obama himself would say. Seriously, as I said in another thread, I really like his pick of Paul Volcker to head it.
November 26, 200817 yr Author Yes, thanks to both of you for your participation. :thumb: I assumed that your purpose in that thread was more than to just get a bunch of :thumb:s from those that agreed with you, but to also discuss it with those that hold a different opinion. That is my purpose in this thread.
November 27, 200817 yr Author Just so I understand, this is basically an ad hoc committee; and in 2 years its continued necessity will be evaluated? That is the way I took it. It's one of the things that I really like about it. In two years, hopefully we will be on the road to economic recovery and can focus on another problem, like healthcare or education.
November 27, 200817 yr Will this invite criticism of "bigger government" or "more bureaucracy"? Or will the magnitude of the issues facing this Board offset that line of argument?
November 27, 200817 yr I don't know enough about what they will try and do or the purpose to really form an opinion at this point.

That is my purpose in this thread.Well gee teach, I gave my serious two cents worth about liking the fact that Volcker is going to be head of the board.
November 27, 200817 yr I think that we are seeing the intensification of the bipartisan looting of the national treasury that has been in progress since at least the Bush I presidency. I see no hope that Obama is going to turn the tide. Trillions will be added to the national debt and in the end, the economy will collapse anyway. At least the politically well connected will have been given the time to invest their ill gotten gains in gold and other property that will allow them to survive the tough times ahead.
November 27, 200817 yr Author Well gee teach, I gave my serious two cents worth about liking the fact that Volcker is going to be head of the board. I said that badly, I guess. I know that you had made a contribution - a positive one - in this thread. I meant my reply to deal with your post thanking mcpapa and I for contributing in yours.
November 30, 200817 yr That sounds like something Obama himself would say. Seriously, as I said in another thread, I really like his pick of Paul Volcker to head it. I like that Obama is moving early on the economy and this is a good idea if the right mix of people are involved. I disagree with you on Volcker. He is certainly experienced, I just question his judgement.
