As a Knick fan, I'll tell you that this bothered me initially. We were better this year starting out and I thought there might be some light this year. I am not happy that we are basically going to be terrible for 2 more years. There is very little talent on this roster that can win, even in a watered-down East.

 

After hearing comments from Steven A. Smith, I realize that the plan is to get LeBron and give him help. I can see it. We may also have a chance to get some draft help over the next two years also (they have a first round pick that must go to Utah in one of the next two drafts, but it is protected this year and unprotected next year). Long term, this works.

 

I just hope we won't continue to be a laughing stock for the next two years.

That deal may fall through. Ratner has been trying to get the land to build an arena in Brooklyn for years and keeps getting sued or getting rejected by the city. I'll believe the Nets are moving when I see it.

 

The Knicks are the team that has the tradition. Now they have the money. Even if they don't get LeBron, the fall back is D-Wade and someone else. I think we'll take that.

The Knicks will be good soon enough. Give Walsh some time, when Isiah was in office everyone said clear house, and, well, Walsh is doing that. Doesn't it seem that every time a team looks to trade a contract or salary that everyone assumes that they are automatically going after LeBron. The only teams that seem not to be going after LeBron are the Lakers and Celtics, and they are the ones that are winning.

 

Plus, if you clean house to get LeBron, you will have nothing left but him. And it would be Cleveland all over again, bad team+great player=mediocre team.

Excellent move IMO for the Knicks. The current formula obviously isn't winning ball games anyway, and this entire roster is ate up with overpaid players. In this day and age in the NBA you can go from worst to first in the matter of just one solid Off-Season. Insert Celtics there. Until something drastic changes, I believe Danny Ainge has just set forth a trend in the NBA thats going to go from growing trend, to just flat out trend. So long to having good draft day's, good player grooming, and careful Free Agent additions. Hello to banking insane cap room, signing star players, and pulling the trigger on blockbuster trades. I mean its the perfect strategy. If your teams not getting any better and not even being close to winning a championship with what you have, then package a deal too good to offer to someone else and start from there.

Who's to say the Knicks will land LeBron? He's native Northern Ohio, has a 30,000 square foot house there, his entourage is there, and the Knicks may be no better than the Cavs if he leaves. Sure he could possibly make more money endorsement wise, but the NBA isn't the MLB, the money won't be much different when it comes down to salary.

30 is still prime for an NBA player, I'm sure there would be interested teams. He will play another 7-10 years.
