I don't doubt that you could be right. I just think it remains to be seen how the conservative south responds a former Hindu Indian.

The 2012 Republican ticket will not have two southern governors on it. Republicans cannot win in 2012 without recapturing a couple of big midwestern states. It would be crazy for Jindal to burden his ticket with Huckabee.

 

I seriously doubt that Gov. Huckabee will be a serious contender again. He lost a lot of credibility when he continued to run after he had no chance to win the nomination to deny Romney a shot at overtaking McCain.

Conservatives do not love Huckabee because he is not a fiscal conservative, nor has he been a strong proponent of securing our borders. Huckabee needs to hang on to his gig as a Fox talk show host.

Two southern Republican governors running on the same ticket after watching Obama win Ohio, Missouri, and Indiana after nominating a guy who considered putting a Democrat on his ticket? Huckabeee would not make a good running mate for a southerner but it would make more sense than running a Democrat for VP. :lol:

If the country is suffering in a depression, Romney will excite everybody.

 

I think that this election has proven that voters do not care much about a candidate's religious beliefs and in a Romney v. Obama race in the midst of a bed economy, conservatives of every stripe would turn out to vote against Obama. The race would mirror this one, except it would be like Bush actually running with a dismal approval rating.

 

It is a shame that Huckabee and Guiliani decided to help the Republican Party to hand the nomination to McCain this year. Nobody could have predicted the sudden economic collapse but there is no doubt many Republicans regret McCain's selection over Romney given the current state of the economy - and that includes many social conservatives.

Why does so many continue to hold on to this misstaken belief. OVer and over it was shown that Huckabee's supporters indicated they would go straight to McCain and NOT Romney.

So you do not really believe Romney on abortion but you probably would have voted for a man who stood up for hospitals' right to deny abortion survivors medical treatment and who intends to sign a bill into law that will remove all state restrictions on abortion? I am sorry but I do not follow that logic.

Huckabee had no chance to win. The only reason he remained in the race so long was to split the conservative vote. You forget that the media still loved McCain during the primaries and they were happy to paint him in the most favorable light possible until he clinched the nomination.

 

If Huckabee had been a true conservative, he would have withdraw and thrown his support behind the most conservative candidate with a chance to win and that was Romney.
