November 2, 200817 yr Author I think a RH bat might be the biggest issue they need to address. Baldelli has a string of strange injuries. Nomar is old and had the same problems over a few times.
November 2, 200817 yr Author Some people are too old school. Sometimes going by the book to much will hurt you. I'm willing to bet Votto hit lefties just as good as he hit righties last season. They need more hitters like him. He hit .292 against lefties, but there are very very few lefties that do that.
November 2, 200817 yr He hit .292 against lefties, but there are very very few lefties that do that. True. In order to be a good baseball team, you must be solid up the middle in the entire field...Catching, Pitching, SS, 2B and CF. Right now the Reds have 1 and a half of those covered. The half comes from pitching. They have the making of a solid group, still a lot of question marks though.
November 2, 200817 yr SS is not an issue. A healthy Gonzo is fine. A healthy Griffey would have set records.....everyone thought Gonzo's injury was a two week thing during Spring Training, he ended up missing the entire year. I wouldn't count on him being healthy/staying healthy for a season.
November 2, 200817 yr Just a thought -- after a tough 1 1/2 years with a back injury, Joe Crede ought to be able to be picked up on the cheap. Why not try him for a year and rotate E5 in LF and 1B as well as 3B? He may get healed up and be a good bargain for a 1-year deal, and you don't have to overuse him, so you can still give E5 plenty of starts there.
November 3, 200817 yr Texira looks like the only one worth spending for just glancing through. E. Brown was having a good year before he got hurt I think. Frucal was too.
November 14, 200817 yr Yeah it should just be one M. What did you think of the Hairston signing last year then. It's pretty much the same thing but Baldelli is a lot younger. Would have no problem at all with the Reds signing Baldelli. As long as he's healthy, he can be an everyday player somewhere. Nomar? No thanks.

He's not healthy, and the way they talked about his mysterious maladies during the playoffs, he never will be! Please (not just you, but everybody) stop talking about him!
