Are you kidding me, this one belongs to the Rockets. Home field and home coming. The weather will be nice and the house will be packed.

Interesting game, but you have to give Shelby the edge at home.

Listen to the game on Pegasus Sports Network online...http://www.teamline.cc Enter 7761

Shelby County wil win this one by more than just an edge.

Why does no one give SO a chance. Do they have a chance to win a game at all this year? They seem to have some athletes. Why are they doing so poorly?

Someone said that not only have they not won this year, they have not won a game since they beat Grant Co. in the 3rd or 4th game LAST YEAR? Is that true?

Great facilities, a lot of kids......what is going on here? I can remember a time when SO at least had some respect.

South last won on 9/21/07, a 28-0 decision over Grant County. At that time, they were 3-2, but an emotional loss in their rivalry game at North Oldham the following week (30-22) keyed a 6 game slide the rest of the way...

That said, they finished 2007 with two games against Anderson Co. (11-1) (one game in the playoffs), 6A Nelson County, 6A Shelby County, 8-game winner North Bullitt, and 8 game winner North Oldham...

They are now on a two-season 14 game losing streak...

This year's Dragons are handicapped by EXTREME youth. 54 of 74 roster players are sophomores and freshmen, and only three seniors start. SR RB Brandon Kollenberg is as good as they come - an extremely fast, elusive RB who can catch - and SR TE Code Malone is a stud punter and excellent TE/LB.

QB has been unsettled. The original starter didn't work out, the backup is a sophomore with promise, but has been very erratic. South's offense has seemed to work best when Kollenberg has lined up as QB for direct snaps in the shotgun...

They simply need time to gain experience...that freshman class has tremendous athletes...

Interestingly, the South - Shelby rivalry has been marked by extremely close ballgames over the past nine years, regardless of whether one team or the other was "good" or not...in the last 9 years, only two games have been decided by double figures...Shelby won by 19 last year and South won by a dozen a few years ago...these two just seem to always play each other close.

Shelby this year has suffered from a devastating wave of injuries, combined with one of the most brutal schedules in the state (Madison Central, Scott County, North Bullitt, Johnson Central, Manual, Eastern, George Rogers Clark - and they still have Oldham County coming up!)... Losing Brandon Cresap, the extremely talented Shelby sophomore QB, was especially a killer for the Rockets. I do understand, however, that most of Shelby's injured will be back in action this week, and that may be the deciding factor...

Last year, Cresap picked South apart, but he won't be in the lineup this Friday...

Shelby, on the other hand, has struggled to stop good runners all year...

I'll be broadcasting the game, and really don't know what to expect. Past experience has shown this game to almost be unpredictable, and this year - with both teams sitting at 0-8 - who knows how the kids will approach it?

For both, it's their best chance to win a regular season game, as South plays North Bullitt next week and Shelby entertains Oldham County... Shelby coach Todd Shipley perhaps has the psychological edge - his team is going to the playoffs, regardless...

Very well stated!! Nothing but facts stated about the Shelby County side. Couldnt have said it better myself.

Very informative!

Nothing but FACTS about either side.

Great post Colonel Mike

I agree with everything but one fact. Shelby can stop the run...

They've had their moments, but the stats don't lie: Shelby's giving up 233 yards per game on the ground. The run "D" improvement has really shown of late (see: GRC Game), but they are definitely struggling in this regard.

Careful SCRockets, Col Mike seems to have both barrells loaded with facts and coming out firing. I love it when you can get that type of information on these boards. And it does not seem that his is "fan" based, (or is that biased?)

Great posts Colonel!

We shall see friday night. I would bet that the rockets do shut down the run. People are back and people added in the last few weeks and you so earlier stated.

I will have to agree with "scrockets" and Ill use FACTS and STATS to back it up. The Rockets are giving up 233 yards rushing per game. No where near the tops in the state but compare it to the opponents of the teams the Rockets have played.

1. North Hardin- 101 yards

2. North Bullitt- 239 yards- obtained many times this season by Dalton Cissell and company.

3. Johnson Central- 281 yards- a whole lot less than the 481 yards per game that Johnson Central is averaging. Including 684, 582 and 572 in their last 3 games.

4. Scott County- 290 yards- Scott averages 264 yards per game.

5. Manual- 232 yards- average 200 yards per game.

6. Clark County- 187 yards- Less than theyre average Im sure.

7. Louisville Eastern- 229 yards- they average 249 yards per game.

8. Madison Central- 308 yards-average 241 yards per game. Only bad effort put up by the Rockets this season according to the opponents of their very difficult schedule.

The opponents of the Rockets so far this year have a 44-12 record. Thats including Clark, Scott, and Mad Cen beating each other, an Eastern loss to Trinity, a Scott Co loss to Lex Cath and North Hardins losses to Bowling Green and Warren Central.
