If Dayton can play great defense and get their passing game going then it could be a long night for Newport - however - Newport has improved a lot in the pass few weeks but IMO Newport has tendencies to fall back to their old ways throughout a game so with that said - Newport - if they stay focus can come out on top big in this one.

I think Newport has the upper hand in this one. They have been playing well as of late. Don't underestimate Dayton just one win or not they have a few weapons. Sherlock offensively and Richardson defensively are good enough to play for a lot of NKY teams.

I was able to watch Bellevue and Newport play I'm going to say the second game of the year (correct me if I'm wrong) and Newport looked like they had some very good players, but just didn't seem to play well as a team. Bellevue was able to beat them in that game, by wearing them down in the second half. However, it looks as if Newport is starting to play some good ball and my guess is starting to play well as a team. I'm not sure how Newport's pass defense is because Belleuve just ran the ball most of the game, so hopefully Dayton and Sherlock can exploit the secondary and get some big plays down field. Newport's line looked fairly big so I will say they have the advantage in that area. Should be a fun, hard hitting, and good game. Dayton exploits the secondary and Sherlock has a good game:

Senior night at Newport - this is a good group of seniors and could have possibly been a contender for the #2 spot in the district. So, what happen, why not a contender? Who is to blame?

 

I would say you could lay blame on any of a lot of things. I think they could and should have got the #2 spot, they have a good group all around but it just didn't happen for them. Those seniors will have to prove them self in the playoffs.

I have heard that Newport is installing a new defense, for the scrambling ability of Dayton's quarterback! Has Newport not seen a scrambling qb this season?

 

I would say they have not, but they will be ready for Sherlock.

Should be a pretty good atmosphere to watch a game.. Dayton needs to come in with the bullying attitude right away, but I think whoever plays as a team longer will win this game...

Game starts at 7:00 at Newport.

 

Now as far as the bulling attitude - IMO if this was a street fight - I would have to give it to Dayton. However it is not a street fight and IMO Newport has more skill players than Dayton. Newport's O-line is not as good as one would think it is when you look at their size. Another factor will be whether or not Newport uses all their weapons or leaves them on the bench. Newport has a problem IMO about leaving a lot of skill players on the bench and only focusing on 2 to 3 skill players. IMO when you have the weapons you use them and a good team knows how to use them. I've said it before and I'll say it again - use all your weapons don't be foolish - you've got'em use them.:walk:

I would have to say Newport's pass D is just ok but good enough to hang with any thing Dayton can throw at them. Newport is a much better team now. Good Luck to both teams!
