A few surprises. I admire the abilities of all of these very talented young ladies, but I consider Stith from Williamstown a top player in the 8th region.

I think Carroll County will be better than half of those teams listed, and I'm not just being a homer.

I can agree with the top 3, although I'm not sure there's a nickel's worth of difference right now between SK, Shelby, and Anderson... But I'm not sure how South gets ranked this high this early. Coach Wright is a fantastic coach, and his defenses always keep his teams in games, but he lost almost everyone who played any significant minutes from last year's SF team except McGuffin... Right now, I see Oldham as the #4 team, and with that talented junior class, the team most likely to crash the "Big 3's" party...

 

I'm also surprised not to see Carroll in the top 10...

I agree about Stith. IMO, she would have to be one of the top 7 or 8 in the region if not higher. Unsure where this info comes from.

I think you are right about Stith and I am not sure where they get this information. She is in my opinion about number 6 on this list.

You might be correct about Oldham being higher than South Oldham but even with the loss of the key seniors last year, South has a very talented freshman player who will make some noise and I look for them to be a more balanced team than every before. They have several players who can score and with their running style of play this year, they will surprise some teams who are expecting them to be down.

 

I am still not sure who the talented juniors are for this year for Oldham? I know of Lape (jr) and the rest besides Beaudrie(sr) are sophomores this year.

The A schools get very little respect once again. I guess they need to prove it on the court.

Unfortunate, but true. But I think that SK, Anderson, and Shelby - all "big" schools - right now look the best on paper, knowing what they have coming back.

 

And - thanks to the "law of large numbers" - the bigger schools are going to typically have more "big" years than the smaller schools. But that makes it all the more magical when the A schools make their runs - as they will when the right combination of players and good coaching come together.

There's some really good coaches at some of the smaller schools - Todd Gilley at Henry County and Randy Mefford at Carroll come to mind right off the bat. Coaches like these don't need five all-state players to make noise...

I am going to have to disagree with you about Carroll making alot of noise. But I could be wrong it sure wouldn't be the first time!

I (of course) think Carroll is going to be very strong.! Lost 1 starter and got 1 back that was out last year.!

 

Seriously, I am a homer and always think we will do well, but I am looking forward to seeing this team play together. They have not played together yet this year.

 

Their younger girls played league ball in the spring and did well which hopefully have given them a lot of confidence.

 

A lot of good things going on in the 8th and it would be great to see a small school make some noise this year.
