No disrespect to the young lady, but Sydney Wainscott is not in the top 10 players in the region IMO. Sydney Brown from Anderson County is going to make a name for herself this year. She's just a freshman, but played big minutes in the regional final last year as an 8th grader. She's a legit 6+ footer and is an absolute load in the paint. If she begins to realize her potential, she could be the difference in the 8th this season.

Don't know much about SK but AC and SC lost a lot of talent, do they really have a chance?

All of last year's top contenders lost significant amounts of talent...you could say the same for most of last year's regional tournament teams. Youth may make the difference this year...who has the best incoming underclassmen?

I saw Simon play a lot last year and thought wainscott had some nice games playing off the other guards, I just was never overly impressed with her. Nice player, don't get me wrong, I think she starts for every team in the 8th. And she'll have Toliver with her....

 

Anderson and Simon better get it done this year though b/c after that they may take their lumps for a few years. Anderson has a ton of young talent, but they are still a few years away from contributing, although you may see a couple of 7th graders playing THIS season for Anderson. I dont know as much about Simon, but after they are really losing a lot after this year.

 

But in the end, I think it comes down to Simon and Anderson again this year. Fultz and Toliver are on another level from anybody else in the region. Watching that battle will be really fun, they will fight for region player of the year the whole season. Shelby just lost too much. Lecompte is a nice player, but she is really the only player returning with much experience at all, and they weren't exactly loaded on the JV level last year. I think you'll see the oldhams challenge some as well, but they are probably a year away. Should be a fun year in the 8th!

Slaughter is NOT back at Shelby this year. At least that's my understanding.

 

Beaudrie is a very nice player no doubt, and is strange as this may seem Oldham may benifit from losing all the bigs. They played all year without an identity. Maybe now they'll now who they are and play better. Either way I still think it's Anderson and Simon this year. They have the most talent coming back, and both sport regional player of the year contenders. Fultz is much improved over last season, if the supporting cast shows up Anderson is going to be a very tough out.

SC will probaly start an 8th grader a freshman at point with Lecompte and two more guards. And all four will be the strongest the region has to offer. Rebuilding year for all!

Does anyone have any insight on Owen, Henry, Trimble, Carroll and Gallatin. Owen and Trimble lost most of their scoring last year and will look completely different. Henry should have the same team mostly and Gallatin seemed to struggle last year. Carroll lost their point guard and could struggle if they don't find someone to fill that spot.

You are right. It will be Wainscott at the point, Tolliver at shooting guard, L. Figgins at the 3/4, Smith at the 3/4, and C. Figgins at the 5. :ylsuper::thumb:

I agree about Stith. IMO, she would have to be one of the top 7 or 8 in the region if not higher. Unsure where this info comes from.
