Kimbro leaves Manual

Featured Replies

Jody Demling said on his blog that he talked to Kimbro's mother and he is leaving Manual. He is going to a prep school, but it did not say where. I don't see why a player so young would leave and go to a prep school and not get to enjoy a year of high school ball where there are always a lot of people there at games. But to each his own and I wish him luck.

This really hurts Manual this year as now they really only have 1 star player rather than 2. Thats not to say they still should be a very good team.

If true, Manual won't be the same team they were expected to be. They may still be a top 10-15 team but losing Kimbro really moves them down in the ranking and makes them less of a threat to not only the 7th region teams but also the better teams statewide. (Scott Co, Holmes, GRC)

Kimbro missed 11 games last years and Manual went 9 - 2 in those games. He also missed all summer league games and Manual went 19 - 3 (two of those losses were without Jenkins too). Yes, it does change things and Kimbro will be missed but Manual will be fine. There's still a lot of talent there. Its the deeper challenge that some thrive on and with the state's toughest schedule there's no greater challenge this season.

I didn't mean to sound as if they would be completely lost without him. I just meant that there wouldn't be as big of a threat without Kimbro. I know Manual has enough talent to still be a top 10 team without him. I just don't think they will be as big of a threat without him. Still a threat because they have a lot of talent but losing the best player for his class, you can't tell me that Manual won't miss him at all.

You did not say anything that was incorrect. Absolutely Manual will not be as strong without Kimbro and the rotation changes. Players will need to step up their games. Its a challenge and it should be fun. Kimbro is a great kid and I really hope he succeeds wherever he goes including this year at Prep.

That's a shame. I was looking forward to seeing him play at the Prep Classic this year.

Manual fans still have a great player in Jenkins to look forward to who is good enough to carry them on his shoulders. If they can get a few role players to step up they can still make a run in not only the 7th region tourney but also the state tourney at the big gym in Lexington. The key is though, as you said, those players need to step up their games and accept the challenge being presented to them.

It would not surprise me to see Kimbro end up in Indiana playing hoops for a year then returning to Jefferson County to play at his high school of choice.

Jenkins has taken his game to a higher level this past summer, which should carry over to this year making Manual very competitive. Losing Kimbro hurts, but this team can still beat anyone in the state on a given night.

Junior Alex Nicholic 6' 10" will have to step up his game big time, while staying out of foul trouble. Rebounding will be a challenge for Manual with Kimbro's departure.

The other players just need to do what the coach asks them to do and Manual will be fine. Coming into his second year, Coach Just has a better idea of what players can contribute to the TEAM. (There are some diamonds in the rough on this team) They all have to know their role in order to win as a team.

Jenkins won't have to do it all by himself, but the ball will run through him.

This is Jenkins team. He will not let Manual fail.

Manual now has lost Cosby and Kimbro who both started out last season with the team. They also lost Williams to graduation. I think they drop from the #5 or 6 team down to around the #10 or 11 range.

Kimbro missed 11 games last years and Manual went 9 - 2 in those games.

Against WHO? Kimbro takes makes this team a contender, without, well they just became a good team without the star player who can win you a title

Who is your team? I know where your coming from, but play Manual and then say that.

I think you're underestimating them a little. Jenkins is arguably one of the best players for the 2009 class and good enough alone to carry this team on his back. Kimbro will be a big loss no doubt, but Manual will still be a contender within their region and a threat to make a run if they get to the state tournament.

Last time I checked Jenkins is a star player who can win you a championship! I think Manual will surprise some people this year, even without Kimbro. I think they have another freshman player that is pretty good.

On a selfish note I wish he was staying in the area. He was fun to watch play the game. I wish him nothing but the best.

I heard this back in the summer that he was leaving. Then he wasn't, and now he is again.

Guess they are wanting to get him some more exposure.
