Should Tomcats be in the top ten now?

I know the players will read this and enjoy the fact that nobody thinks they can hang with the top dogs like Highlands. I would totally agree with you on that. I'm sure if you ask the players they will say otherwise and that's what's great about this group of Tomcats they never say never and in the words of Jimmy V, "Don't ever give up." All I'm saying is the Tomcats may not be able to play with the top teams but what they lack in talent they make up for in effort, heart, and pure determination. Oh, yeah and I bleed maroon and I might be being biased but everyone has to believe in their team and that's just what I'm doing.

That is great. It is precisely that attitude we all share for one team or another that brings us to this site in the first place. That's what makes high school football and this time of year so fun.

All I was saying is from looking at the scores, Highlands is demolishing some pretty good teams this year. For that matter, Johnson Central is too. Ashland has the most difficult road through the playoffs of any of our local northeastern Kentucky teams...and it isn't even close. While it would be a great accomplishment for Raceland or Russell to make it to Louisville this year, those accomplishments would pale in comparison to Ashland making it there.

I want to see the Tomcats make it, though! Ashland fans and players have a lot to look forward to in the next month. The anticipation of games against Covington Catholic, Highlands, or Johnson Central will definitely be exciting.

Keep believing Tomcat Fan. :thumb:

I think this year's Tomcats enjoy the underdog role. It can be a powerful motivator. :D

The AP has listened and put the Tomcats in the top 10. I hope this isn't a curse for you guys. I mean, you seem to be enjoying this underdog thing:p

Some of us enjoy it. I don't think Tomcat Fan likes it much.

Ashland deserves to be in the top 10. Their record against solid 5a competition certainly indicates that.

However, if I'm an Ashland coach, fan or player, I'd want to stay out of the polls. There is no better position in any sport than the underdog. Nothing to lose and everything to gain.

I think the AP may actually have it right... at least for Ashland. They can play with the guys from about 6 or 7 on down. They are not ready for the likes of Highlands or Bowling Green. They are young, but good. I think they're right where they need to be, for now.

And I would say that most Johnson Central fans have been watching the improvement of this Ashland team with great interest, and realize that this game is probably the hardest one left on our schedule in the regular season. Never easy to beat a good Tomcat team in Putnam Stadium. I absolutely would agree they belong in the 5A top ten teams.

I would put Ashland at #10.
