Kentucky Report: Ge'Lawn Guyn Chad Jackson & Dakotah Euton

Ge’Lawn Guyn (Scott County High, Georgetown): Ge’Lawn is a 6’2” combo guard who does it all and leaves it all on the floor. On a team with 7 potential high and mid range D-1 prospects Ge’Lawn maybe the best. This is a kid whose work ethic is beyond approach. The knock on him is that he doesn’t have a true position, when you play as good and as hard as he does it doesn’t matter. Gelawn is getting serious looks from Xavier, Wake Forest and Louisville.

Chad Jackson (Scott County High, Georgetown): Chad may be pound for pound the most talented kid in this class. He has the tools to become a great player. He gets to the whole at will and then finishes. He has struggled in the past with his jumper, which we all know is about confidence. Chad has been one of the top 3 talents in this age group since 4th grade. This is the first time since seeing him play at an early age that it might be getting to him. If he gets rejuvenated, Chad is the high major impact that we always felt he was. Chad has offers from Xavier and West Virginia.

Dakota Euton (Scott County High, Georgetown): Dakota is the best big man in this class. His athletic ability may be limited but what he does well, he does it real well. Dakota is a great shooter and that maybe an understatement. This kid has a great work ethic. When he gets to the University of Kentucky I guarantee you no one out works him. If you surround him a round great athletes, like Kentucky has, Dakota will be a definite asset to the team.

It seems like a pretty good description of all 3. I have seen Jackson play a few summer games and what impressed me was he looked like a true point guard. He sometimes seemed to blend in though rather than play at a level I believe he is capable of. Guyn is a great athlete who seems to get better every time I seen him. Euton needs to get more athletic, but when Ive seen him he sure does play hard. And like he said, the kid can shoot lights out.

Jody Demling reported that Guyn and Jackson both attended Midnite Madness as recruits also.

That's correct. They were there together.

If Ge'Lawn is now 6'2" then he has grown a couple of inches this year.

Out of curiosity, if Ge'Lawn is being recruited by some of these big schools, what college position are they projecting him playing?

Ge'Lawn is hands down one of the quickest kids I've ever seen play at this level...on the other hand, while Euton does have a very good basketball skill set, I really don't think he has anywhere near the necassary athletic ability to successfully compete at a place like UK, and he's not big enough to compensate for it, so I think he may struggle at the next level.

Your comments might make some sense if Euton was a freshman at UK right now.

As it is, he has two more years... two years... before he'll get to tip it up at UK. This kid works as hard as anyone in the gym... and harder than most. He's getting bigger, stronger and quicker to go with an outstanding head and heart for the game.

I predict that you will be amazed.

The best player at Scott Co. hasn't even been mentioned. Richie Phares is and will be best college player. Much quicker and better shooter than Dakotah. All he needs is some weight and the sky's the limit for him.

I have only seen Richie play a few times so to be fair I can't say you are wrong, but I have seen Dakota play numerous times and he can flat fill it up so if Richie is a better shoooter I feel sorry for most teams in KY.

If you think Richie is a better shooter than Dakotah then you haven't watched these guys play. Richie has range to about 12 feet. Dakotah has range to about 30 feet. Dakotah can flat out stroke the ball.

I have seen Phares fill it up from 3 point range as well. If you think Phares only has range from 12 feet apparently you have not watched these guys play. Both are very good shooters.

I would love to see the Scott County stats and see what Richie shot from behind the arc. I watched him play about a dozen times this summer and don't remember him stepping behind the arc and shooting the three.

Richie is a very good player but I don't think that I would put him in the catagory of a shooter.

I believe against Madison Central, I watched him hit I think 2 or 3 3 pointers and some other long jumpers. Also I watched him in a couple of games during team AAU this summer and he knocked down some 3s in those games. He has a very nice outside shot.

What Richie does from the arc won't be of consequence. It'll be what he does in the paint that carries SC. He's their main paint threat.

What I loved about Phares game from watching him in the KY Allstars was his ability to pass the ball from the interior. He playled a great 2-man game too. And for a big guy, Phares won't slow the break. He can get down the court. He's the leader.

Plus from everything I have seen with him on that team and from people I have talked to he was not used to the best of his ability on the AAU team. The team revolved more around the guards.
