Central 28 Shawnee 14

Central wins one they are supposed to win, but the margin was closer than expected.

MUCH closer than expected! I can't figure that Central bunch out. Still a very dangerous team though.

They had to score 21 points in the 4th quarter to pull it out.

Central had a couple players get hurt in the Western game last week, most notably Ridge Wilson, that didn't play Friday.

Good for Shawnee to hang in there and play tough. Would like to see that program turn around. Good for them,:thumb:

Seems like Central maybe plays to its competition level to some extent?

Central is a good football team but Shawnee is much improved from the beginning of the season. The start of the year they threw the ball every down after they realized they couldnt do that they started to get more balance and the running back Vinny Moore for them is pretty good. #21, I think his last name is Moson on defense might be just as good as Ridge Wilson, but doesnt get the credit because Shawnee isn't as good. Watch out for Shawnee in the playoffs they could sneak up on some people because of the athleticism they have.

I can't quite figure Central out either. The way they played Male and Manual was ultra-impressive, but their close wins over Shawnee and E-town, as well as their loss to Western, seems to offset that.

I will reserve my judgemenet until they play Highlands.

Not sure how much this may factor into this discussion regarding Central, but they just hired a coach last week to be their O-Line coach. I dont know if they have been relying on their athleticism thus far or what, but if they have been without a line coach so far, it would make sense if another coach (or several) has been pulled from their duties to work with the O-Line up to this point. This could have resulted in a lack of adequate preparation for some games.

Then again, how do you perform so well against Manual and Male and not so much against Shawnee??? Not trying to take away anything from Shawnee, but I would have thought the score wouldnt have been as close. Good for Shawnee though. Glad to see they are making strides.

Western is better than most people think. This year's Male is not close to the Male we all have seen over the past either.
