He might no how to build and lead in college, but let's wait and see about high school. Marvin Lewis great defensive coach in the pros but over-rated as a head coach.

 

Can someone please tell me the difference between this Coaching Staff and last years Coaching Staff. I know what it is last years team made the play-offs and this years team will not.:laugh::laugh:

 

Let's wait and see before we announce him as Scott's football savior, he does bring stuff to the table that the program needs but so did some of the last coaches in the system. I am a Scott supporter and will always be but I just want to wait and see what happens first.

Scott's team was much better and more talented than last years, so lets leave the play off thing alone. They should have been better no way they should of lost to Dayton or Grant last year, And if it weren't for a few turnovers in the opener they could of one that. This year team seems much more motivated and focused, that has a lot to do with coaching. I have talked to a few kids from the team last year that said that they probably would of won more games with Campbell than Fisk. No knock on Fisk, Campbell is just more Experienced and discplined. Not calling him the football savior, but he is certainly a step in the right direction, Casey took the program as far as he could, and certainly did a good job while there. So be upset because you don't get to sit on the sidelines and have to sit and the stands like everyone else, this does not make him a bad coach.

Scott hasn't given up it's theme song. They still play it several times per game. The new song is just an addition.

I'll tell you the difference from personal experience. Coach Campbell realizes that a strong HS program begins at the middle school level. You have to keep your own and not lose kids to other schools. Campbell was front and center at the very first football meeting with the middle school parents. He explained his philosophy, how he expected his players to conduct themselves in the classroom, on the football field and in public. Let me tell you, the guy is very impressive.

 

In the off season Campbell himself, ran the middle school conditioning program. We are talking middle school here! He treated these kids like they were men and I can tell you, he sold himself very well to many of these kids. The guy is an endless worker. Very open and personable. He made a point to let every parent know they are welcome to visit the Eagles nest and see what he is trying to accomplish at Scott high school. He's trying to change the attitude of the program. The expecting to lose attitude.

 

Last years coaching staff was no where to be seen at the middle school level. The kids had no reason what so ever to play for Scott. Last years coaching staff may have been great but unfortunately, they never made themselves available to the middle school players so they could learn so themselves.

 

When you are historically the doormat of NKY football, you have to do something different to change the culture. Campbell is trying to do that. He may do things a little different than what most around the Scott program are use to and I'm not here to say that all his moves are the right ones. But I will tell you that what went on in the past at Scott didn't work.

 

I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm ready for something different. I'm willing to give Campbell time.

I was impressed that he attempted a fake punt very early in the game. I don't know why teams that are the "prohibited underdogs" do not try "trickery" early in the contest while they are still "in it" instead of waiting until they are buried to drag it out. It showed me that Coach was trying to give his kids a shot at staying in the game. Stay the course Eagles, better days are ahead!

Old bball coach of mine used to call it "chicanery". You're right though, no sense trying it when the outcome has been decided and the opponent may be more inclined to be looking for it:thumb:

Scott had all the tools last year passing attack, receiving core, rushing game and good special teams, not to say they don't have good players in certain areas this year just stating if he could have had the team last year this year.:ylsuper::ylsuper:

I know that all will say that this is a moot point, but I feel that I must get it off my chest. In both scoring drives for Scott, the Refs made many "questionable" calls to keep the drive going. The last straw was taking away a clear interception by Collinsworth and saying it was a completion for Scott. I know everyone is going to say "They won by 54!" That's not the point. The point is, the refs must call a fair game on both sides of the ball and there was a clear block in the back right in front of the ref among other calls that should have been called against Scott that weren't. If I were Dale, I would write a formal complaint to the KHSAA. At one point, it was like 5 penalties in a row against HHS to help get Scott inside the 5 yard line.

 

On the subject of the actual football that took place. It was the Austin Collinsworth show. Nice to see Conner in to convert the 2 pt conversion. Head had a terrific 91 yard opening kick off return for a touchdown. Collinsworth did it all tonight though. He ran a kick, a punt, an interception, and caught a perfectly threaded pass from Tony all for touchdowns. Crawford ripped off some great runs and that's pretty much it folks. This team did have a lot of penalties and that was not good. Some of the penalties in the beginning of the game were legit, but not on the two Scott scoring drives. It seemed like if it looked like Scott wasn't moving the ball well enough, the refs would just shove them along. I just want it to be abundantly clear to all those Cov Cath fans that may feel bad that Scott scored on HHS and they didn't to know that it was the refs that should get their name in the paper tomorrow.

 

Regardless of the score, the rules still apply and kids need to know that it's not right.

 

If the officiating was as bad as you say it was, I'm sure that Highland's coach can send a copy of the game tape to the person who assigns the officials in Northern KY. :confused:

This program is heading in the right direction and it is because of the tables set from last years success. Scott was a few plays away last year to have a record of 7-4 instead of 4-7. The old coaching staff has set high goals for the new staff to look at and say hey we need to do all we can to keep the bar high and not crumble like the teams in the past at Scott have done. The new staff is building on the success from the past year and doing everything in their power legally to keep raising the bar and have Scott maybe become a football powerhouse. Just give it time and lets all hope as faithful alum that we can become a school that sells games out on Friday nights and win some football games and eventually make a run at state!!!!
