So if that kid liked basketball would you consider basketball an "Emo" sport? That makes no sense. People all around the world like Rise Against. I'm sure that includes some "Emo" kids as well. That doesn't necessarily make the band "emo". BTW, it sounds like the kid you know needs some help.

It's funny, because the song I mentioned by Blink182 called 'Emo' is not really an 'emo' song. It's probably my favorite song by Blink182. 'Adam's Song' is much more emo (lyrically at least, it kind of lacks the faster-paced, whiny emo sound. Still a great song in it's own right).

I don't know that particular Extreme song, but they were one of the more tolerable hair-metal bands. Teenage Riot - Sonic Youth Hey Jealousy - Gin Blossoms Emo - Blink182 Three Little Birds - Bob Marley and the Wailers I have no use for Blink 182. Sonic Youth is a band I respect and always liked, but never bought their stuff. They're a band I've been meaning to explore. And I'm a huge Bob Marley fan. And that Gin Blossoms album was a guilty pleasure of mine. I don't think this one has been asked yet and I've been trying to get up the nerves for a couple days to post it. You like DBT so I think you should like this song, I'm just not sure though. Free Bird - Lynyrd Skynyrd Be easy on me Jim. I'm a big Skynyrd fan, but you have to admit "Freebird" has been overplayed.

I enjoyed the first two Weezer albums a great deal. But they took way too long to release their third album, and by that time I had moved on musically. Radiohead is a great band, but "Creep" is nowhere near their best song. I'll give that nod to "Fake Plastic Trees." Modest Mouse is a band I've meant to explore more. Flogging Molly is flat-out awful. I'm a big Johnny Cash fan. And, as I've said many times before, Metallica ceased to exist after the excellent album "And Justice For All," as far as I'm concerned.

Weezer is great. I probably like their first album the most...but the Green Album and Red Album are great too. I'm just skeptical that anything made in the past 20 years is really "punk." So consider me a snob in that regard. Radiohead's first album (where "Creep" is found) was OK, but they had better stuff come out after that. "The Bends" and "OK Computer" are their best. The others are a little less accessible to the average listener. For whatever reason, I never got a copy of their most current album. Probably because 2007, its release year, was a rough one for me financially. I think Dropkick Murphys are pretty awful as well.
October 2, 200817 yr To those in BGP land: I hope, if you discover nothing else about me from this thread, it's that it's nothing personal when I take a swipe at some band you like. I just can't be dishonest when it comes to music. Music is just too important to me, and I have to call it like I see/hear it. Too many of you take things personally, and that's too bad, because you often end up ignoring a suggestion of mine out of spite, and missing out on something great in the process.
