September 25, 200817 yr Author For the record, I have no problem including Rivers or Big Ben...a valid argument can be made for both of those guys. But, no Peyton Manning? No way a valid argument can be made for that omission.
September 25, 200817 yr He's played 15 games in 4 of his 6 season in the NFL. And that includes his rookie season. The only 2 seasons he didn't play in at least 15 he played in 12 and 13, he really hasn't missed all that many.I swear it doesn't seem like that many. He seems to always be MIA. And do those include playoff games? If that's the case, his percentage can't be that great if those are added in. I assume he's out this week after his ankle on Sunday night.

September 25, 200817 yr He's never missed a post-season game. Where did you find that? Again, serious question.

He's on the injury report nearly as often as Brady, yet always seems to play.
September 25, 200817 yr Author Where did you find that? Again, serious question. His ESPN player profile. I checked the game logs and he registers normal stats for every playoff game the Eagles have played since he's been there. There are a couple of regular season games where his stats suggest he may have been injured and not completed the game. And there are one or two Week 17 games when he had minimal stats, but that's no surprise. But, overall, Westbrook has proven far more durable than his reputation...the facts don't support the myth.
September 25, 200817 yr As for the Manning without Harrison at 100% comment...I guess the first three games of '08 carry more weight than the last 14 or 15 games of '07. ... This isn't the 2007 MVP we are discussing, what I have seen from Harrison is a completely different player from anything I have seen from him the past 5 years... as of right now he is unable to shed defenders on the jam, he doesn't have the sharpeness in his cuts that has earned a first time ballot spot in the HOF when he decies to retire, and Manning's checks no longer begin with Marvin, they begin with Wayne and Gonzalez. He is far from washed up, but he is also far from being the best receiver in the NFL as he has been over nearly the last decade.

He is far from washed up, but he is also far from being the best receiver in the NFL as he has been over nearly the last decade. He hardly played at all last year...that's my point. You brought Harrison up saying Manning was a different QB without a healthy Harrison based on the first three games this year...I offered the entire 2007 season as evidence to the contrary. Which should carry more weight? And, we aren't discussing the 2007 MVP...or the 2008 MVP. We're talking about players whose absence would have the most drastic negative effect on their teams. Tom Brady and Peyton Manning are numbers 1 and 2 on any credible list of that sort...:thumb: But, since Brady is already out, there's no need to include him.
September 25, 200817 yr Take Eli Manning off the Giants roster and they are probably 1-2 right now. They beat Cincinnati because of Eli, not despite him. Is he a league MVP? Probably not, but I'd say he's more of an MVP than Haynesworth.
September 25, 200817 yr Author For the record, this thread is not about being the league MVP... It's about... Never mind.
September 25, 200817 yr Brandon Marshall should be considered as well, look what he has done in 2 games.
September 25, 200817 yr Author Brandon Marshall should be considered as well, look what he has done in 2 games. Considering they played well and won their opener without him...he didn't make the cut. But, playing an extended period would be much different. I imagine its much easier to scheme for one week vs. the Oakland Raiders, especially with the surprise element of Eddie Royal, than it would be to scheme for a month or more without Marshall and teams prepared for Royal.

He's always questionable or probable and there are probably plenty of games where he only played like one quarter and left, but hey what do I know.
