I see there is the girls middle school state championship game being played at Rupp. What a great place to play a middle school state championship. Are the boys middle school teams going to get this opprotunity when their state rolls around in February? That sure would be nice!:thumb:

At the KABC this past week there was a proposal to have the boys middle school championship game prior to the East/West All-star game at Transy between the Semifials and Finals of the Sweet 16. This would be a good showcase for this championship

Does anyone know who is in charge of this event?

WOW, what a neat game to include in this. Lucky and I'm envious.....

Who do you contact for press credentials?

Does anyone know who is in charge of this event?

The KBA has a couple of people running it. Call them and ask to speak to Ben (sorry I forgot his last name).

Has to be the 2 best teams in it, possibly along with Shelby Valley.

Kenneth Farley is the one who is coordinating this event.

I would assume the girls middle school state championship is the champion of the schools who chose to play - I am not familiar with any type of format where the teams progress to get to the championship. I thought middle school teams played in conferences. Will each conference send it's winner to the championship?

KBA hosts middle school tournaments but it is up to the middle schools themselves to enter the tournament. I know they have 6th, 7th, and 8th grade tournaments for the boys in February that gets a good turnout. I am not familiar with the girls tournament, but I assume it is coordinated in the same manner as the boys tourney. Each middle school is guaranteed 3 games if they sign up by the deadline. They are guaranteed 2 games if they sign up late. Normally the best middle schools in the state turnout for this event, however, I can say that the best middle school team I have ever seen was a team that played with Lexington Catholic jerseys on, even though I found out that Lexington Catholic doesn't have a middle school. When we got to the middle school state tournament, we recognized some of the Lexington Catholic middle schoolers playing with different middle schools. Had Lexington Catholic entered that team that we played, they would have won hands down. I wish the boys middle school championship could be played at Rupp. That is a truly great experience for all the girls who get that opportunity.
