Will Harlan City win a game this season?

Featured Replies

I have been reading the papers and looking at there upcoming schedule and I don't see much fire in the dragons. I don't see a win this year unless they pull of an upset and beat Pineville or Jekins (and at this point I see that as a upset (my view) ). I just wanted to get some of the local input on what are the chances of a winless season.

Harlan will get their first win of the season this week against the Mtn. Lions.

This is hard to watch, however the powers that be seem fine with it and want no part in the solution, and I am not talking about the very fine coaches.

The Dragons get over the hump this week in their first home game against Pineville. Harlan has had a tough opening to a season. They were outmanned against Hazard and Lee, Va, both on the road. Against Knott County, Harlan made every mistake you can think of in a HS football game and many were made more than once, not to mention the officials sure didnt hurt Knott any. They reinvented the holding call. Yhis is not to take away from Knott County's win because they are much improved and have some good athletes. Anyway, its hard to base the remainder of the season on what has taken place in the first 3 games. I, for one, think Harlan has an excellent chance at a home playoff game and, for the players that read this board(the majority do)

Sorry, posted before i finished the last line. For the players that read this board, just keep working and good things will happen!:thumb:

Two wins at home against Pineville and Jenkins = home playoff game, they also could get to 3-3 with a win over McCreary Central also at home. So at this point they are not dead just wounded, so for you guys that read this banter get your butts up and apply and band-aid and get this season off the mat and show folks that there are still two teams in Harlan Co.

Well said!!:thumb:

I honestly don't think they will. Their best shot will be Jenkins but I don't know if they can even beat them.

To the kids that read, I'm sorry. In my earlier post I failed to mention anything about encouragement. Do keep trying and always hold your head high.:thumb:

Powers that be? Fill us in BP.

Holdbacks.

Holdbacks.

Oh yeah. Very sensitive area. No clear solution that I know of. My personal feelings are that it should not be an excuse for losses. I played my last down at the age of sixteen. Granted I was an average player and 1 or 2 years could have made a difference. But I have no regrets. I do feel that it should be a parental decission and should be made at a very young age (4-10) instead of during the middle school years for athletic reasons. There is no doubt about it, a year or two at that age is a very distinct advantage. As a former middle school coach, I never said "they got a bunch of holdbacks" like I heard a million times. I say, Just line up and play! :thumb:

I don't think they will win a game.

I think at least 2 wins this year with a prayer of 4. Hang in there young men. Don't listen to negativity. I'll be there to shake your hands when you win or lose. :thumb: :ylsuper:

I'd be shocked if they don't beat Jenkins, and I'll be surprised if they don't beat Pineville. McCreary is possible if the Dragons do a better job of stopping the big plays.
