Elliott Co 2008/2009

Featured Replies

Elliott is not a lock to get out of the 16th region. East Carter, Bath County, and Ashland all very capable of beating them. And to say that their starting five is as good as any in the state is a foolish statement. Clark County, Scott County, Mason County, Hazard, J'town, Manual, Ballard all would thump Elliott if they played. If Elliott is one of the top teams in Ky then why are they not playing more top teams in Ky. I looked at their schedule and Mason Co. is the only top team in Ky that they are playing. ??????????????????????

Thump them huh?

Very well said I agree totally

To my knowledge, Lion Mania didn't predict a 16th region championship. He knows the game plenty well enough to know that any team can be upset but to say EC would be thumped by any of the teams listed above is quit a statement. Where I agree 100% that any of the teams you listed COULD beat Elliott County, to write EC completely off aganist those teams before the season starts is a bit early, IMHO.

Elliott County's schedule will be as challenging as any this year. EC plays possibly the best team in WV, South Charleston, in the KY Bank Shootout. They travel to the most prestigious christmas tournament in the nation to play 4 top 25 teams in the country. They play one of the best teams in the 8th region, Anderson County, in Montgomery County's shootout and Mason County travels to Sandy Hook to play this year. Not to mention playing East Carter twice, Bath County, and Ashland which you yourself predicted to be good games. So EC will be battle tested.

Maybe Elliott County isn't a top team in the state but to say they would be thumped by the seven teams you listed, I think, is a bit rash.

I agree with that:thumb:

Elliott Co. will get tested at Beach Ball. That is a big time tournament. It will be very good competition. But I don't understand why they don't try to play a couple of the state's best teams. Maybe they tried and wasn't able to get it accomplished, but I think it would be a good measuring stick for them to play someone like Cov. Holmes or Dunbar.

We shall see. GRC and Elliott play each other at Russell in a Pan-a-roma in early Nov. I can see Elliott beating the Cards in that pre-season match-up....hopefully GRC's football players will still be playing. We would be without 2 of our starting players.

Mason Co does not have the team this year as in the past...graduation of Miller and Co. I believe Elliott Co proved themselves last year in the State tourney when they almost beat Mason Co. I would rank Elliott Co as a top 5 team in the state right now.

Starting five as good as any in the state. Keys will be bench development over the course of the season and Timmy Knipp. Seniors Ferguson, Ethan and Evan Faulkner, and Chris Knipp will lead and be solid. Timmy has a ton of potential, but played like a young freshman last year. His summer play gives some indication that he may be moving his game up a notch and making strides toward his full potential.

Ethan and Evan Faulkner, and Ferg are among the top player's in the state and can play with anybody in the state or country. Proved that over the summer around the country.

Top 5 team and the potential to make a deep run in Rupp in March 09. Deep as in playing on Saturday morning and Saturday night.

I'll go on record once again as saying that Elliott County has a great chance to win the state championship this season.

Elliott County has a change of playing Hazard in the ALL A's. That is if both teams win and advance. :p

Elliott is the favorite to win the ALL A and they should go deep into the KHSAA state tournament as well.

Favored by whom? I think Hazard is the favorite.

How so?

If Campbell plays Hazard is going to be really good. I believe the 2 teams are pretty close. Knipp is a very nice player, but Hazard is a little deeper and better inside. Also, I think Whitaker would be the best player on the floor if the 2 played by a very small margin.

Oh no Log, you have blasphemed. Sandy Hook will have an APB on you.:scared:

Why, Elliott supporters love good jokes.

Hazard is right up there but it looks like Campbell might not play and either way I would still probably give the nod to Elliott.

Obviously.
