Flynn Beats Brohm as Packers Backup?

Featured Replies

Not a good week for the state of UofL football. But then again at least he is on the roster, more than I can say about three of my Cats.

I said it all along. Everybody wanted to annoint Brohm as the backup, but Flynn was a great leader of a very talented team. And, he's not too bad himself.

They were quick to annoint because Brohm was taken in the 2nd round and Flynn in the 6th round in the same draft.

Good for Matt, I still maintain that Brian will be a starter in the NFL...that said, congrats to Flynn, and let's get the season going.

Not likely that either will play much if any this year, so I'd say the real winner has the bigger contract :D

When do you see that happening?

Within the first 3 years.

This is strange, they have been saying that Flynn has been struggling all pre-season even more so than Brohm.

Read any quote from the head coach from the majority of the preseason, he has been saying for months now that Flynn was having extreme amounts of trouble picking up the offense and that he had never seen a rookie pick it up as fast as Brohm. Obviously that doesn't always translate to the field but they have been praising Brohm and not Flynn from the get go.

I am not quite sure what you have been reading.

"I think Matt, number one, has picked up our offense at a very good pace, better than most guys that I've been around," McCarthy said. "I like the way he makes plays with his feet. He can get you out of a bad play. Instinctive, very calm, his disposition is excellent. Pocket awareness and is comfortable in the pocket.

"(He) played in a wide-open offense in college, so he has the ability to get out in space and do some things. I've been impressed with him so far."
