Palin...from a woman's perspective

Featured Replies

I've searched and searched for a vote on infanticide in Illinois. I'll admit...I can't find one single reference to an Illinois vote on infanticide.
Keep looking. I have posted the details of Obama's leadership of the opposition to the Induced Infant Liability Act (the Illinois version of the federal Born Alive Infant Protection Act) in multiple threads and I have also detailed the fact that Obama was caught lying about his reasons for opposing the bill. It was in some of those Obama-bashing threads that Obama supporters tend to ignore.

Just google "Obama infanticide" and then start reading if you are truly interested.

I'll admit...she ousted an upopular governor, stood up for ethics in her own party in Alaska. I haven't seen her attacking the Republican party on the national stage, or for that matter, speaking out about ethics in National Politics at all.
What did Obama do to clean up the Daley machine? Tony Rezko supposedly operated right under his nose for a decade. Do you not think he had any idea what Rezko was about?

The people Palin took on were not local Alaskan politicians. Frank Murkowski was a four-term US Senator before he retired to become the Alaskan Governor. Palin won 51 percent of the vote in a three-way primary. Murkowski won 19 percent. In addition, Palin publicly criticized seven-term US Senator Ted Stevens and urged him to cooperate in the federal investigation against him and she also endorsed incumbent Congressman Don Young's primary opponent earlier this year.

Obama played ball with the Daley machine, while Palin attacked the corrupt system in her home state head on and won.

So, when Palin does answer a question on an issue she has yet to voice her position on, you will let us all know not to trust it as there is no record of past action on said issue?
I know that Palin will, like McCain, support positions with which I will disagree. However, based on Palin's past positions and accomplishments, I will not question her motives whether I agree or not with her positions.

Obama has done nothing to earn my trust. He is a proven liar, so his campaign promises carry no weight with me either.

I haven't been frequenting P&R too much these days. My mind has been made up since day 1, as the war is the overarching issue for me.

So, pardon me for not going through hundreds of posts to get a handle on this and possibly missing some discussion in another thread, but is the choice of Palin merely an attempt to garner a significant portion of the undecideds and/or female vote? Or was it choosing someone eminently qualified to step in if, heaven forbid, something should happen to the President (and I believe that Obama hit one out of the park in this regard with his choice, by the way)?

Just my opinion, but the usual cast of characters (not just here on BGP, by the way) would be wetting their pants with joy had the GOP veep pick been Ted Stevens, Pete Domenici, Ernie Fletcher, Benito Mussolini; anyone, really. These folks are going to go to any means necessary to justify to themselves and convince you and me that the pick - whoever it is - is THE PERFECT pick.

I'll second that opinion. :thumb:

The more I look at Biden's voting record, the more I like him. He seems to be balanced on most issues, and the one's that I question the most, I'll have to do more research on to find out the wording on the legislation to see if I can figure out his vote. I really looked at his record in issues that I feel affect the everyday, normal American. As a Catholic, I looked to see how his votes compared to the teaching of the Church. I was a little disappointed on the issue of abortion, but again, I need to see the wording of the legislation I feel he should have voted differently on to figure out his thought process. I realize that wording of legislation can cause someone to vote differently than they would have if the legislation were straight forward, and nothing piggybacking it. One thing I think LBBC would like, Biden has stated he believes that life begins at conception, completely in line with the teachings of the Church.

He has extensive foreign policy experience, and I liked his voting history in that arena, for the most part.

I liked his votes on social issues, and education. I read some of his thoughts in this area particularly. I think he has a good grasp of the issues, and I'm pretty much in line with his thinking.

I liked his votes on the energy and economy issues as well as the ethics in politics issues.

I guess, if we're basing our votes on VP candidates, I could definitely with mcpapa that Obama hit a home run with his choice.

I think that Biden also appeals most definitely with the "working class" Americans. Although I don't necessarily support unions, I recognize their power, and their historical purpose and achievements. He's pretty much in line with their agenda.

And that's GUARANTEED inexperience on day one with Obama.

18 million people chose Obama, 1 picked Palin

Disappointing. This forum used to be about open-minded discussions. Now we have people on both sides ignoring posts from certain people.

Maybe, being young, I am naive to believe that people exist out there who actually care about what other's opinions are. This forum, as evidenced by these two posts and many more, has become nothing more than a group of people who just like to watch their own words posted on a board.

Once again, being young, I love when I have a response to my posts. I love seeing the other side's opinion, and I love dissecting all arguments from all angles so I can really form my positions. But this board is full of people who don't care what anyone else says, so it seems.

How about Biden's position on abortion? Is it in line with the teachings of the Church? Does the fact that Biden believes life begins at conception, yet supports abortion rights make his position more or less in accord with the Church's teachings? (In other words is abortion more evil or less evil if an abortion supporter believes life begins at conception versus a supporter who believes a fetus is just a mass of non-human tissue?)

What is the Church's view on killing the survivors of botched abortions? (Biden voted to protect such victims, Obama voted against the victims on three separate occasions.)

Sarah Palin is a former union member and her husband is a dues paying member of the United Steelworkers Union. How does that compare with a politician who consistently votes in accord with the wishes of the union bosses?
