August 31, 200818 yr I honstly can't figure out why one would need a semi-automatic pistol. No clue. Why? If fires once when you pull the trigger, much like a revolver does only a little faster? What's wrong with it? What do you find so inherently dangerous or evil about them? Shouldn't this be in the gun thread though?
August 31, 200818 yr IMO, the NRA has become to gun issues, what some beleive NOW is to women's issues. Where does she stand on the rights that I feel are important? I know where Obama is. I need her to tell me where she is on the issues that face the entire country, not just those that affect Alaskans. I don't want to hear one more time what a great mom she is. Tell me what she's going to do to make this country better for all moms. I don't believe owning a gun is the most important issue facing moms or women in this country....or men and dads for that matter. She has taken action on reforming political corruption. NOT action against the opposing party but action in HER OWN PARTY! She had taken action to help out families struggling with the rising costs of fuel. All the time that those in DC have been having nice speeches and rhetoric on the issue she has moved forward and taken action. She has rejected the pork barrel spending that has put this country in bad economic state. She said NO to Obama, McCain and Biden when them and their cronies tried to send money that was not needed to Alaska for a project. So, many of those things that we want from our politicians and the candidates talk about SHE HAS ALREADY DONE. Does Obama, McCain and Biden's years of service mean more since they have talked about doing those things but not moved forward on them compared to SHE HAS ACTUALLY DONE THEM.

Well, given that she supports the Iraqi War, as does McCain, and AcesFull says I shouldn't believe what either candidate's website says on anything, I have to become a one-issue voter, and 3 out of 4 candidates were for the war. Only Obama stood against it from the beginning. So, I'll have to go with Obama.

So, in your view, the most important issuing affect American moms is the war that we presently have plans in getting out of Iraq? We are out because McCain's plans for a surge worked and Obama's opposition to the surge and saying it would be a failure was wrong. The #1 issue is how the cost of fuel is affecting your budget. Palin has begun to address those concerns and brings strength to the ticket on this issue that Biden and Obama do not. I agree with you that I don't really care and most moms won't care about the gun issue.

And, I don't expect that the government can/should/would solve my personal budget crisis for me. Frankly, it's the responsibility of every individual American to effect change there. And, I REALLY don't see where Palin's idea to drill in Alaska and sell to Japan is going to drive America to oil independence.

Okay how about her plan and wanting to start on providing a natural gas pipeline like the oil pipeline? On January 5, 2008, Palin announced that a Canadian company, TransCanada Corp., was the sole AGIA-compliant applicant.[43][44] In August 2008, Palin signed a bill into law giving the state of Alaska authority to award TransCanada Pipelines $500 million in seed money and a license to build and operate the $26-billion pipeline to transport natural gas from the North Slope to the Lower 48 through Canada.[45]

Okay, how about her getting politicians OUT OF THE POCKETS of Big Oil.... Shortly after taking office, Palin rescinded 35 appointments made by Murkowski in the last hours of his administration, including that of his former chief of staff James "Jim" Clark to the Alaska Natural Gas Development Authority.[37][38] Clark later pleaded guilty to conspiring with a defunct oil-field-services company to channel money into Frank Murkowski's re-election campaign.[39]

I still have an issue with her idea to drill for oil, which is what we are so globaly dependent upon, and sell it to Japan.

Okay, how about instead of taking a surplus that she had in the Alaskan budget, she returned it to the people of Alaska and took actions to further help them with their costs. NOT at the cost of anything else but from a surplus that she had managed the Alaskan government to.... In response to high oil and gas prices, and the resulting state government budget surplus, Palin proposed giving Alaskans $100-a-month energy debit cards. She also proposed providing grants to electrical utilities so that they would reduce customers' rates.[46] She subsequently dropped the debit card proposal, and in its place she proposed to send Alaskans $1,200 directly, paid for from the windfall surplus the state is getting because of the high oil prices.[47]
August 31, 200818 yr Great for Natural gas. I still have an issue with her idea to drill for oil, which is what we are so globaly dependent upon, and sell it to Japan. I think the point is that the way for Americans to become dependent is on a multi-facet plan that includes natural gas, oil, wind, solar, geothermal, etc, etc. From her position as Alaskan governor, she could ONLY have the affect for the most part on oil and natural gas. She took action on that.

That problem sounds like it is laid at the feet of the Democrats who control Congress, not hers? You want to fault her because a Democrat-controlled Congress chooses not to act in this manner? That seems unfair. The other 3 had a chance to do something in the session of Congress. Blame them, especially O and Biden because their party is in control of Congress and that is fair.
