Green Co. has been good for several years, they were undefeated regular season last year but flubbed their dub in the playoffs. This senior group for the Dragons has all been starting since they were freshmen and sophomores.

My team (Johnson Central) is playing Hazard this year. I know Hazard is supposed to have a good team, I guess Green Co. was better tonight.

Green County is tough. Not a suprise to me. If anyone overlooks them they will run over you. Both great teams tonight.

Back and forth game, dawgs just could not stop the run and I believe the turnovers were like 6 to 1.

 

Green Co. has a good team and played well offensivly. Hazard just could not tackle. Olinger did not have his best game and had some severe cramping.

 

BIG PLAY Of GAME: Hazard trailing 24-20 ball on Green Co. one yard line, dawgs fumble snap, dragons take next play 99 yards for TD. Instead of it being 27-24 Hazard, it is 30 to 20 Green Co. in just 2 plays.

 

Hazard will be fine and contend for class a state title. Green Co. will also contend for 2a state title.

Seems like they can still taste that Metcalfe loss from last year and are using it as prime motivation. Hazard fans shouldn't hang their heads too much; a game like this against a quality opponent can only make the Bulldogs better.

This one ended up a track meet. It was everything it was hyped up to be. Two very good football teams slugging it out play after play. There was some hits in this game that you normally see on Sunday evenings. Great job by the offenses while the defenses were battle tested. Both teams had 500 plus yards of total offense. Some really good individual performances as Green County had three guys with more than 150 yards rushing. The quarterback Pendleton, scores 6 touchdowns. Hazard's QB threw for over 300 yards and one runningback with a great night rushing as well. This one was a Slobber Knocker !!! :thumb:

It is great to see to quality teams open the season to get better. It does not look to me that either of these programs are scared to get better. If you want to get better play better teams. This has to be one of the best football kickoffs in a long time. Congratulations to both teams for a war on the field. (Defiantely different coaching styles) both were effective and worked well. A lot of athletes on the field

I personally feel that Hazard should have passed more. The fourth quarter rally by the Bulldogs was due, largely, by some beuatiful pass plays.

I think so to but Hazard seems to me to be very undisciplined they run wild. The coaches have no controll over their team. Green Co was the better coached team that won this game. Green Co wanted this game more than Hazard in my opinion. Hazard has a lot of athletes I think the coaches need to get a tighter reign on them if they are going to compete for the title this year.

Would you care to expand on your opinion a little. How is Hazard so undisciplined? How do the coaches not have control over the players? Why do you think Green Co was the better coached team? Why do you think Green Co players wanted this game anymore than Hazard's?

 

In my opinion, this game came down to missed assignments by Hazard on defense and turnovers. Hazard lost the turnover battle 7-2 and coincidentally also lost the game.

 

My opinion: a sloppy first game by 2 pretty good teams. Both teams defense must and will improve. Green Co 1-0; Hazard 0-1 with 9 more regular season games to get ready for the playoffs!! Good luck to both teams.
