I guess we should let boys start playing girls volleyball, since it is not offered for boys?

 

I think I saw on ESPN a few years ago that in a state on the east coast that there were boys that played on a girls lacrosse team because there was no boys team.

If she attends every practice and does all that is required in the classroom she deserves the chance to be on the team.

 

Franklin County has never cut players from the team except for violating team rules.Some kids may never touch the field in a varsity game,but are be on a TEAM.

Exactly. If this girl is the best kicker on the team let her kick. If she is not good enough cut her or let her warm the bench.

This is a very complex issue with alot of good points both for and against. I think everyone should have the right to try out for the team,but I really don't think it is a good idea for a girl to play football with the possible exception of a very good kicker and then it is still risky. But then what do you tell the boy who wants to play volleyball?? What about boys who are taught not to hit girls and then are faced with them on the football field either at practice or a game?? I've seen little girls playing football and some do well at 8 or 9 years. My son has a 6th grade girl on his team and she is good but I feel she would be better off playing soccer or volleyball where she will have a future. I really have mixed feelings about this issue.

The school that she attends is a private school are if I'm not mistaken, private schools don't have to follow Title IX. If I'm wrong, someone please correct me.

Yeah . . . that's in Kentucky but . . . this girl attended school in Georgia. :sssh: Surely this type of behavior/action is not being practiced here!! :thumb:

If she can kick, makes the team, and feels like she belongs on the field, then I have no problems with her playing.

 

If there's a fumbled snap and she gets speared by a 235-pound linebacker running full speed and ends up in the hospital, then I don't want to hear any complaints from anyone involved.
